Dogs for Diabetics is an innovative non-profit organization that provides quality medical alert assistance dogs to youth and adults who are insulin-dependent type 1 diabetics through a program of training, placement, and follow-up services.
Dogs4Diabetics dogs have been specifically trained to identify, and more importantly, act upon the subtle scent changes that hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) creates in body chemistry, changes undetectable to their human companions.

Add your commentI think this is a wonderful program and would like to get iinvolved in some way. I think this does need to be on a national level. I am a dog trainer and know how great these dogs can work and they love it.
My golden retriever had none of this training but out of instinct woke me up numerous times during lows. She saved my life many times.
I think this is a wonderful program. I wish it was
on a national level.
I think this is a great way for the dogs and the diabetics. Its something a lot of us need. Thank you so much for sharing.
I THINK THIS IS A WONDERFUL WAY FOR DIABETICS TO HAVE A GREAT COMPANION THAT can help them if they get to low of blood sugar.
It's amazing what dogs can do. We usually think of them only as our pets. A great service for those who need them.
This is so amazing.
I just find it amazing what animals can do in service for we humans, and all they want is a hug in return…well, okay and a doggie biscuit.
This is great information. I have a service dog for epilepsy and hearing. As our bond grew stroner, he taught himself to alert me to my lows. I got my dog from Purdy Prison. His name is Sunny and goes everywhere with me. These dogs are invaluable and the program I went thru did not make me buy him. I had to make the trip to the prison 2x for training w/Sunny and take a public access test which showed we were indeed working as a tea. The ADA laws protect these dogs as well as dogs in training.
If you have any questions, feel feww to email me at Sunny's site.
