First off, ALL drugs have possible side effects. Second, Are you a doctor that is involved in a special study that shows a statistic on "first choice drug for type 2" people? Every diabetic has his or her unique situation, not everyone will fit the same glove. This is what I've tried to explain in a nutshell. What bothers tremendously now is that, to discuss diabetes is now like discussing politics and religion; everyone thinks they know! Too many diabetics think that if it has not happen to them, then it doesn't exist. There is so much to diabetes than people think, and I'm tired of people slamming unwanted negative opinions being down my throat, and sometimes that includes other diabetics who are not up-to-date with their diabetes knowledge.

In essence we have our own cross to bare, it is not our place to judge her. Now, she is in the public eye so I guess to some extent she has opened herself to that. However, people speak of her as though they've lived next door to her for 20 years. Right or wrong, it is still her own cross to bare, and she needs to learn what diabetes means to her, based on how it will effect her life, not because a bunch of people telling her what she should have done. We all know diabetes isn't easy, therefore we can't give each other support, if the first thing out of people's mouth who don't know you, is what you should and shouldn't. People act like she's the only cook on tv that prepares unhealthy food? And how many of those diabetics that are probably in the closet?

A diabetic can't make a move without somebody commenting on our every single move! no wonder so many of us are secretive about our condition. You think?

The Problem I have with Paula Dean, is she came out as a paid spokes person for a drug that isn't even the first choice drug for type 2, and has some questionable side effects. This is from their own website! If she had just come out and said hey I'm diabetic it would not have been as big of a deal. But for her to ignore how unhealthy her cooking is on top of this mad other's angry. I think it is probably the idea of cook my unhealthy way, and if diabetic, take my diabets drug?

The difference in type 1 and type 2, is that type 1's have to use insulin and diet and exercise alone will not make it go away. Type 2 have a chance to change their situation, and avoid using pills. By changing your diet and exercising and dropping weight. And that is a good thing:) I wish I had that choice! As far as judging other's, isn't this what you just did in your video?

But, I do agree people need to become better educated about diabetes and that includes diabetics as well. It is amazing some of the info I read and hear from fellow diabetics that is absolutely wrong. But you can't tell them as they think they are right. I just have to shake my head and move on:) No, nobody is perfect and that is what makes this world go round.

Have a good day.

What he said about how we start to use the ignorant myths of people who don't understand diabetes was the key. We know better than to get on the negative band wagon. It shows how our little prejudices are still out there.

Great video. You made you point nicely about the people being quick to judge. I really like your take on being "educated" about diabetes. I am trying to educate myself daily and will always look to learn more. Therefore I am a lifelong student in my diabetes education/journey.
