It's not helpful when people talk in abbreviations assuming everyone knows what they are talking about. I find this really confusing

eGFR stands for Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate. It is a test for your kidney function. You should see this as one of the tests that your doctor does at least once a year and probably more often if you're not in good control. Under 30 is good 30-60 is to be watched and over 60 there would be concern of kidney failure.

Thank you Barry! Kudos to you…I find this very alarming since I also take this drug and she may have well spoken in another language. I probably should know what all this means but I don't.??? I personally feel that my doctor or caregiver should at the least try to educate me on the basics I need to know. If I have to find out these facts completely on my own…what is the purpose of having a doctor? I believe in researching but if you don't know what to ask or research???? A lot of help from our doctors would DEFINITELY be helpful…Anyway thanks for the video..it certainly opened my eyes and will be asking questions!

I've been a Metformin user since 1997. This Dr. might as well have been speaking pig latin with regards to the egfr. this was disappointing.

EGFR is epidermal growth factor receptor.
I looked it up. Here is a link with more info about it.

Why didn't she explain what EGFR is? I had a weird reaction to Metrormin, maybe because my EGFR wasn't in the right number range?

helpful, since I take metformin, I'll ask my doctor what my EGFR number is…and proceed from there…

I dunno, it was okay…I did learn that I should research it some more due to her infromation. Otherwise it was information I already knew, but I also currently take it. Thank you very much.

This was pretty good. I didn't really learn anything about Metformin, but it made me decide that I should research it a bit.

I'm on Janumet, which if you don't know, is a combination drug with Januvia & Metformin. The only thing I really know about it is that it works for me & Januvia isn't know to cause weight gain.
