We've been arguing a lot in the office about this video. I'd like to hear everyone's opinions about what is really going on here.

Add your commentWell, I missed the video but after reading the comments I don't think I missed much! lol
She has diabetes, however, I am inclined not to listen to her on much of anything. Good looks do not equate with accurate knowledge.
She is a Ketosis Prone Type 2 Diabetic. This is a common type of diabetes amongst people of color in this country. There are an estimated 1,000,000 of them in the US alone. They present with acute onset like type 1 but after withdrawal of insulin will actually be type 2. Here’s a brief video on it: http://myown.oprah.com/audition/index.ht...
Here’s a blog on it: http://ketosisprone.blogspot.com/
I would like to point out that while she may not know what she is talking about at least she is talking about diabetes. to most of America, its just words until someone they know is affected or they get diagnosed.
Just for the record I would like to point out the "new" diabetes type 1.5 (I think) which is when a type 1 diabetic grows up and becomes obese and then develops type 2 (insulin resistant diabetes)
not that this would apply in this situation.
WHERE IS THE VIDEO
If a video is removed why is it still being offered for viewing?
WHAT HAPPEN????? Would have like to see it. Do Halle Berry suffers from Diabetes?
wheres the video? Would like to see it.
its gone cant watch it
Does she have Diabetes???
Hard to believe. Something not quite right there.
This is informing.
Lets hope she is never a spokesperson for diabetes! diabetes doesnt hurt? If only! I find it hurts physically and mentally. she should be banned for ever talking about HER diabetes. It gives bad information.
Well, it's an America issue. Here, you may say whatever you like. The constitution dose not demand it be true.
Well, my 2c here.
If you are accurately diagnosed as type 1 or type 2, you will never change. However, it does appear that with the new advances in diabetes recently that a number of people may be misdiagnosed. There was an article on this site recently about a kid who was type 1 for several years but after some genetic testing it turned out he had MODY and a simple switch from insulin to a sulfonylurea worked perfectly well for him.
I'm not trying to say that if you really are type 1 or type 2 you can switch between the two, but realistically we know very little about diabetes and lumping people into 2 basic categories is probably not very accurate.
I THINK SHE IS JUST IN DENIAL IS ALL IT IS… NO SUCH THING AS GOING FROME TYPE 1 TO TYPE 2 DIABETES… COME ON NOW MY BROTHER HAS BEEN TYPE 1 SINCE HE WAS 16 YEARS OLD… HE IS NOW 33 YEARS OLD GOING BLIND AN ONLY HAS 25 PERCENT USE OF HIS KIDNEYS NOW… HE WAS IN DENIAL FOR YEARS AN THIS IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HIM
Her presentation is confusing. I am glad for the comments in here that help clarify it. I didn't think you could go from a type I to a type II. I am presuming that you can go from a type II to a type I if your pancrease decides to stop working?
I think she may have been educated "old school" where all insulin-dependent diabetes is "Type 1" and only NIDDM is "Type 2". The other question is, is T2 in juveniles seen only in cases of comorbid obesity?
I agree — she just serves to fudge the issue.
