I really liked this video and I will take care to avoid fried foods because I have to say I was eating cheese in my egg beaters. I sure wont do that anymore.

Hi I'm new to this site I'm a type 1 diabetic very brittle but I'm still confused about somethings although diet maybe one of them lots of do and don'ts these days don't know what to eat anymore I've always based everything on my own experiences for ex. fruit sends my blood sugars through the roof so I don't eat them although I love peanut butter and jelly ( with very little jelly I might add) I compensate what I eat with fast acting insulin. I have learned alot from my condition. I'm not overweight never was it runs in my family my mother and father both have it father died from it (was in denial that he had it in the first place), I'm the only one of my siblings who has it and all of my siblings are extremely for their height overweight. I never was. I'm tall and thin now actually I want to gain weight. I was in an automobile accident early part of this year that landed me in the hospital for 2 months lost 16 pounds I'm very thin and I don't like it. I want to gain the pounds that I lost without compromising my health. I would really like a health coach someone with theorectical and practical experience that can guide through my day to day struggle with this condition all the while regain the weight that I lost. Your help would be greatly appreciated…

I am not a vegan but I have a niece that is. If you love cheese, milk, bacon and etc. but your body can't handle it try the vegan variety's. Of course check always with your doctor first.

Chinese food, Indian food, bbq ribs - they are killers because of the slow burn due to the fat. Though it just makes me check my blood glucose more often and adjust accordingly! With a pump its not as difficult since one can use the dual wave bolus, which allows an immediate bolus followed by a timed bolus over how may hours you need it dosed.

Donnaann, as a diabetic you do not have to give up cheese and eggs, always discuss your dietary choices with your dietician, pcp or nutritionist.
Everyone has different dietary needs and to make a decision based on a video, book or advice wouldn't be wise without consulting your medical team.
This video was posted to show another opinion, not to convince others to adhere to it.

If I like it I eat it !!!! have insulin, will use according to the carbs I've eaten! And then exercise accordingly! And, yes, I ate a big chunk of aged cheddar last night while watching TV.

@ Donnaann You may want to consider the source before you give up your cheese & eggs. Please scroll down to the 3 posts from blessedbeing and read the links she posted. It might change your idea if it is a good information or not! You decide. After I read those articles, I was thoroughly disgusted by Dr Bernard's advice.

This "doctor" is selling goods and not correct information. This type of sell should not be allowed on this site.
Stick to your guns, boys!! :) (or cheese)… I had my egg this morning and peanut butter with celery last night and will continue my routine!

@ Armourer:

Garry, you might want to scroll down to 3 posts by "Blessedbeing" posted on Apr 23. There she posits that Dr B is promoting a radical animal rights agenda, and his diet recommendations are more of a plan to save animals from slaughter and other uses/abuses than it is an eating plan with solid science behind it.

Everybody please take the time to pull up the links Blessedbeing posted on Apr 23 and read them. I was convinced.

And Garry, The liquid meal stuff, might that have been a product called "Jevity"? One of my patients took it in his feeding tube, and yes it does taste terrible.
