8 oz of 8th Continent LIGHT Chocolate soy milk (see nutrition on why I specify 8th Continent)
1/2 medium banana
1 tablespoon of peanut butter (reduced fat) Smart Balance with Omega 3
ALTERNATE if you cannot find the LIGHTchocolate 8th Continent soy milk. You can use the 8th Continent LIGHT vanilla and add sugar-free chocolate syrup or a packet of sugar-free, hot chocolate mix added to taste.
ice cubes
add soy milk, banana and blend then add peanut butter and blend again
If using sugar-free, powdered cocoa add before peanut butter then blend, add peanut butter and blend again. Otherwise I find it does not mix the peanut butter or the chooolate poweder in well.
Add the ice and blend on last time to thicken your drink.
Drink and enjoy

November 5, 2009 3:15 PM UPDATE RECIPE: I have switched to using LIGHT VANILLA soy milk, SUGAR-FREE chocolate syrup (Herseys puts one out but I buy store brand). This will cut the milk to 7 g of sugar and 9 g of carbs from the milk. It also depends on the size of the banana you use and how much peanut butter you add. NOTHING is written in stone. Now mind you, I use this as a meal replacement and am not a sugar user so pretty much this is all I have for the day in the way of sugar. My BS has gone from 200 in late July to 94 as of yesterday and my A!C last month dropped from 7.4 to 7.2 from end of July to beginning of October. Not sure on weight loss but 5 and a half inches off waist. Common sense is the rule. YOU and only you know what you can handle. I tend to hit low BS easily and swim several hours a day so I have this for lunch before doing that otherwise I have a low BS spell. Do what you have to do is all I can say. If it is too much sugar or carbs for you then skip it. |

October 9, 2009 1:19 AM darn I did have it all figured but do not have it now. I make these things up myself and break them down with the items included. Using the light vanilla 8th Continent milk, the peanut butter and chocolate syrup is about 14 g of protein. If you check out a banana you should have the total count. That is for one serving using 8 oz of milk, a tblsp of peanut butter and on the syrup I used the suggested serving amt and it was yummy. I just tried the sugar-free syrup myself as I have been using a powdered sugar-free cocoa instead. The syrup blends nicer but use what you have to save money. I try to keep ingredients simple so we can figure out the counts on them. As I said previously, I am not a professional just someone who wants yummy things that are good for us. |

October 8, 2009 5:58 AM It is like a Reeses in a glass LOL...I bought some sugar free chocolate syrup today. Herseys puts one out as do othes including a store brand. I bought the store one because it was almost half the cost of the name brand. Suddenly it seems I cannot find Chocolate 8th Continent Light so I will take my own advice and use an alternate. I hope anyone that tries this will enjoy it. Just remember it has lots of carbs in it when you total it up. That is why I list it as a meal replacement. |
