July 10, 2008 11:27 PM The first time I ever saw the watermelon fruit bowl, was in 1976, when someone at church made me a fruitbowl centerpiece for my first baby shower. the fruit bowl was decorated to look like a baby bassinet. They had taken half the watermelon (cleaned out) and made the bassinet "hood" and glued lacey rickrack around the edges of the "hood" and around the edges of the "bassinet" bowl. The fruit was then placed into the "bowl" as described above. Memories are wonderful, aren't they ? Hope you can use this info for someone in your life. :) Angie |

July 2, 2008 3:53 AM Thanks for reminding me, I haven't done this for a while. If I'm feeling really fancy, I cut the watermelon with 1-2 inch diagonal cuts. Makes the top sort of tooth like. Can't get enough fresh fruit. |
