Egyptian Pumpkin Pie with bechamel

  • • 1 pumpkin.

  • • 3 tablespoons flour.

  • • 3 cups sugar.

  • • 2 tablespoons butter.

  • • 4 cups milk.

  • • Nuts and raisins.

Directions

  2. • Peel pumpkin.

  3. • Cut into large square pieces.

  4. • Put pumpkin pieces in a large deep pan.

  5. • Add sugar and heat over low heat until tender.

  6. • Take pumpkin pieces out of pan.

  7. • Leave sugar and liquid aside.

  8. • With a masher, mash pumpkin well and spread in a baking dish.

  9. • Sprinkle raisins and nuts on top of serfice.

  10. • In a saucepan melt butter and add flour, stir until smooth.

  11. • Pour milk while whisking.

  12. • Add reserved sugar liquid and bring to boil.

  13. • Pour sweet bechamel over mashed pumpkin in baking dish.

  14. • Put baking dish in oven and bake until surface becomes golden brown.

  15. • Serve hot or cold.
