Steamed Salmon

By BrookeT Submitted at May 2, 2008 Views 4,537 Comments 6 Likes 3

Ingredients

  • 1 boneless salmon fillet

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • salt to taste

  • dill to taste

  • 1 ziplock steam bag

Directions

  1. Throw everything in a steam bag and microwave (yes I did just tell you to microwave raw salmon) it for around 2 minutes. This is a great low carb meal and one of my favorites to take to work.

767 calories in this salmon dish - for 1 serving?

This is one of the best ways to make salmon fillets without overcooking them. I do this all the time using a variety of flavorings - especially hoisin sauce or BBQ seasonings. YUM! Just do not overcook or it will dry out quickly.

Steam bags are my new favorite thing. Both Glad and Ziplock make one but Glads product isn't very good. Ziplocks however is fantastic here is the link http://www.ziploc.com/?p=b13 Microwaving isn't as good as grilling or baking salmon but when you are at work it is a great substitute. And yes the microwave cooks it thoroughly and properly. Since reheating salmon usually ends with dry uneatable food. These steam bags are the best option.

That sounds great esp. if the microwave thing works. What is a steam bag? Does the microwave really cook it properly. I love to grill salmon. How does the microwave compare.
