This is the meter that I use. I love it. This is the only kind I've ever had. I'm newly diagnosed. I was really freaked out, but this is works out quite nicely.

Pros:

I had figured out that it would be almost $1 per strip. However if you go to the Abbott website that is the maker, and if you sign up with their program, they will send you a card. I took that card to the Pharmacy today and guess what? Instead of it costing $58, I only had to pay $15. Huge help to me. My insurance had paid a portion before. I'm anxious now to see if they will pick up the $15 I paid? If they don't, I'm still happy with the savings.

I love my freestyle lite, although the test strips are pricey, but i have found generic lancets that fit it so that cuts some of the cost of having to buy the name brand.

Pros:

I've had mine for about a year now I guess after using an outdated Accucheck Complete.
My 7yr old daughter was given her own freestyle lite meter a week ago and after about 3 days of helping she is able to do her own testing all on her own, the minimal blood it requires is a huge plus, especially in her case.
