Add your reviewI love this meter. They also have a program called "Freestyle Promise". If you participate in this program you receive substantial discounts on the test strips.
ProsThe results are downloadable at your Dr.'s office if they have the right software.
I like this meter; also have heard that they are the only company that will give free strips to indigent diabetics-don't know if this is true but makes the company more attractive, in my opiniion.
ProsI love the fact that I don't have to sacrifice my poor, sore fingertips!

ProsLess error messages - in fact, none so far. Light on test strip area then on meter display is helpful. Small blood sample, fast reading time. The 'beep' helps too! Has alarm capability.
ConsHigh cost of strips.
This is the only meter I've used, so far I'm loving it. It's really easy to use, minimal amount of blood needed and fast results. Luckily my insurance pays 100% of strip cost as they're a bit expensive.
Prossmall blood sample, quick and easy to use, result in 5 seconds or less (usually), light so you can still test in dark when necessary. Freestyle Promise program.
ConsPrice of strips
I like the size of the meter.I would definitely carry it with me but I always test high on this product. I'm not saying I shouldn't have sometimes but all the time?
ProsLite compact
ConsNot enough test strips to get used to it
I like my Freestyle Lite.

ProsSmall, easy to work, batterys easy to change.
ConsNot so easy to canabrate. Have to but rhe controle salution.
This is the meter that I use. I love it. This is the only kind I've ever had. I'm newly diagnosed. I was really freaked out, but this is works out quite nicely.
ProsI had figured out that it would be almost $1 per strip. However if you go to the Abbott website that is the maker, and if you sign up with their program, they will send you a card. I took that card to the Pharmacy today and guess what? Instead of it costing $58, I only had to pay $15. Huge help to me. My insurance had paid a portion before. I'm anxious now to see if they will pick up the $15 I paid? If they don't, I'm still happy with the savings.
