This meter comes with the FreeStyle signature .3 microliter sample size and a 7 second result time. Sample size is small enough that arm testing is convenient and often preferred.

Add your reviewAfter others failed me, this one keeps rocking right along. I change the battery once a year "just because" - it seems to never run down. The newer strips take less blood and results are fast!!
I love this meter i have used it for a few years and found it is easy and accurate.
my meter is freestyle lite work good for me and is a small
I love this meter. I have used other brands but nothing compares. Small, fits nice in my purse.
ProsSmall, easy to use.
Consnone

Proseasy to use, easy to carry around in your pocket
Constake any place with you pocket changes purse
My daughter (11) uses this as her main meter and we really like it. It takes a small sample of blood compared to some of the others and we rarely get errors.
I received my FreeStyle about 1 year ago from the Veteran's Administration. I like it better than the One Touch because the needle prick isn't has shocking. I'm not anticipating the trigger sound.
ProsI give it my thumbs up.
I have used this meter for over a year and I love it. I have tried the contour and the mini meters that come in fun colors and they were not accurate at all
Prosvery accurate quick results small blood sample
Constest strips can be exspensive with out insurance I test 4 or more times daily
I've had my Flash for several years and love it. I was sent an Aviva for free and used it for several months but liked my Flash so much that I went back to it. The size is perfect for me. I always want a small meter that doesnt take up much space in my purse. And the backlight is really a help if I feel I need to test during a movie or some other time when the lighting is bad.
Oh if your readings are off from your doctor's office you should call customer service. They would probably replace the meter. They have always been very helpful when I have called for help.
ProsSize of meter, backlight, accuracy or readings, blood sample size needed for testing.
ConsI cant think of one. It's perfect in my opinion.

I use this meter all the time. I have used other meters but always go back to the freestyle flash. Mine has always beeclose with my doctors.
ProsI love the size, backlight,it also keeps a 14 day average.
ConsThe strips are expensive if you don't have Medicare or insurance.
Used this meter for several years and found it was off about 50 points from my doctors meter.
ProsSmall easy to use, Good support and replacement if needed from Abbott
ConsDid not coincide with doctors readings
I've tried Bayer, One Touch, Accucheck, and others and the Freestyle is the best.
ProsThe Lite meter is the smallest and best that I've used
I've not used the FreeStyle Flash Meter, but I do have the FreeStyle Lite and I love it. The size is tha thing that really interest me and when I received it used it for the first time I loved.
ProsI love the size and the fact that you don'd have to have a large amount of blood to do your reading.
ConsN/A
I have used this meter for 2 years . I love its quick response, compactness, and accuracy. The backlight is handy in darker areas. I like the fact that you can test anywhere with just a tiny amount of blood. No more sore fingers for me. I am retired military, so I am able to get my test strips through TriCare. I Pay $9.00 for 100 strips. I test twice a day. love this meter!
ProsI love everything about this little gem.
ConsNo cons. Completely satisfied with the it.
I love this product for all the reasons listed above: small sample size, back lite, alternative site testing. The coulometry method of measurement is unique to the Freestyle meters and is supposed to be the most accurate on the market.
ProsBack light, settable alarms, free Co-Pilot software to download memory to PC. Cost of strips is middle-of-the-pack for brand-name. Before my insurance covered them completely, I was purchasing from American Diabetes Wholesale at about $170 for 300 strips.
Cons"Time to test" alarm is not loud enough if you keep the meter in its carrying pouch.
I find this meter very easy to use - have been using it for a year now. The real reason I switched to this meter is because the clinical trial I was in that just ended for the continuous glucose monitor at Yale University, did their own study of all of the meters and felt that this one was the most accurate on the market. I find it very easy to use and I get quick results. Really no problems.
My son agrees with the tiny sample size—especially for alternate site testing. I had never thought about how the variation in the length of time for results could help me as a parent monitor how he's doing.
ConsUnfortunately, the Freestyle isn't the "preferred" brand on our insurance. So my son is stuck using the Bayer Contour. (Not a horrible meter, but certainly not the Freestyle or the UtraSmart.
Love it. Tiny amount of blood required; doesn't error out; when in the dark, the light brightens up both the display and strip so you can see where the blood goes. I also like that it beeps and provides the value quickly when you are low, and takes longer when you are high. So when monitoring a loved one or child who is testing, you can know roughly if the one you are caring for is high, low or normal based on how long the meter takes to beep, instead of having to ask or sneak back and check the memory.
