Fast, 5-second average test time, NO coding required. Large display and clear numbers. Multiple test sites. Curved shape makes it comfortable to use. 4 reminder alarms, stores up to 400 results with date and time. Provides results in 7, 14 and 30 day averages. Use only with FreeStyle Lite test strips. Fewer wasted strips because 1) the test will only begin when there is enough blood on the strip. 2) you may add more blood for up to 60 seconds 3) the meter will beep when the strip has enough blood. NOTE, when it was tested on me I did not feel anything other than a moment of pressure and also could not locate the site that had been tested

Overall, a great little meter, compared to other meters I've used in the past.
ProsBut I hate how crammed the strips are when opening a new bottle. I have to pour them out just to get one, and they're too small! They slip out of my fingers. And last, the capillary action on the strip is practically non existent.
Aside from those small complaints, the meter gives me results in 5 secs and I can't argue w/ that!
Small, FAST results, less waste
ConsStrips can be difficult to handle.
sometimes it doesnt let me know the results it just says my sugar is hi
Prossmall easy to use
Consjust doesnt register high enough
I have this meter as well. I have been using it only for a few weeks now. It is easy to use but as others have mentioned, readings are not always accurate. I did the same test with the AccuChek Aviva and got more steady accurate reading with that meter. So I switched to the AccuChek Aviva and now my readings seem to run more accurate and average.
ProsThe meter was very simple to use, easy to read, and was very compact. But I now enjoy the AccuChek's accuracy more.
ConsRaedings were very inconsistent and a bit costly to use, although not much cheaper than AccuChek's.
not consistent had a range of almost 400 in less than 30 seconds on the same hand/ finger
Prossmall size
Conssmall sample size
very wide range of results… for example 130 and 10 seconds later 420, then 5 seconds later 290
i have one and i love how small it is
it is a small meter but i got a lot of wrong readings on the 1 i have
Prosit is a good size to travel with
Consnot geeting accurate readings.
I HAVE IT ITS EASY TO TAKE WITH U
ProsITS CONVIENENT AND EASY TO TAKE WITH U
ConsIT IS EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN
UPDATE from a Diabetic newbie…I used my meter over the weekend and it was simple and easy to use. I sat and read all of the instructions then went in for the kill LOL I am such a wimp but your really feel nothing so I am happier now.
ProsAs mentioned by others here, I LOVE the small case it comes in. It holds everything you need except alcohol wipes.
My meter came in a box with a card attached. Abbott will help you with the cost of your supplies. I have not registered on-line yet but there is an entire website that includes tracking your BS etc. I will try to remember to post the info on here :-)
The strip acts as a sponge so uses less blood.
It beeps when you are finished.
I LOVE hearing from all of you on here that the company responds so quickly as far as replacing it no matter why you need it replaced such as a washing machines as someone mentioned.
I have never used other meters so do not know what the strips are normally like. I have heard how hard they are to feed into the machine but with this meter and the strips I had no issues putting the strip into it even being fumble-fingeres with severe carpal tunnel in both hands. At the price of strips we can't afford to have strips that are difficult to put in or damage easily. I think I will ask Abbott why they have the two test sites on the strip. Maybe we can get them to change that part of it.
ConsI agree about the two spots for testing on the strip. It is easy to have your blood hit both if you are not EXTRA careful. I personally do not understand why they have them both there if you can only use one strip at a time.
fewer wasted strips because you can add more blood if needed, use on alternate sites, large display,
Consnew to me but I can't see where it could go wrong
Cons could happen if you do not follow instructions including times that you should test on a finger not alternate site. Abbott has literature with the meter and a website that makes it easy to do the right thing.
i love it worth paying for
LOVE my little meter!
Prosseems to work great for me and give me accurate readings (for what I'm feeling at the time the sample was taken). I love that the strips, lancets, pen and meter are in such a small little case that I can take anywhere.
Conscan't find any =)
works well for me
Prossmall and light fast
Conscost
like that I can stick myself other than on my fingertips
Prossmall in own little pouch
did not like this meter…
Consnot user friendly
I generally like the meter and the company it came from. But I have noticed that for some reason, it will take the blood sample, not beep or continue to think until I take my finger away and put it back on. It is still pretty accurate, but weird. I have only used the free strips that have come with the meter, so I don't know how expensive it is.
Just got this meter about a week ago and so far so good
ProsI like the small size and small blood sample needed.
ConsHave varied readings, a little worried they are not accurate.
Have only used it a short while but I like the small blood sample needed and the readings seem good.
ProsRequires very small blood sample, sucks up sample instead of me having to smear it on.
ConsWorry about getting blood on both sample spots on test strips. Test strips more expensive than those for my other meters.
Just started using my lite meter. It is smaller that my other Freedom meter. It has a background lite that is a help.
ProsNo problems so far. I calibrated mine and it was within the standards. Readings appear to be accurate and it was free through the web site. It uses the smallest blood sample on the market and has a five second test.
ConsTest strips are expensive but not more than most other name brand strips. If you want cheap get a WalMart brand meter. I use one for backup.
this meter did not work well for me.
Prossmall,easy to use
Consinaccurate readings
