This takes out all the guess work of counting carbs, it actually helps keep me on track.

This is what i currently do and it works WONDERS!!

Pros

It's amazing how much more you can eat if you take away even just one piece of bread…from a cheeseburger or a peanutbutter and jelly sandwhich.

nutritionist has me doing this , and have lost 30plus lbs since october 2009.

When people think of diabetes, one of the first associations that comes to mind is food, and especially the old prohibition against eating sweets. In fact, today's dietary guidelines are not as stringent, but are slightly more complex.
Eat a variety of healthy, nutritious foods
reduce fat and protein to reasonable amounts
balance carbohydrate with insulin and exercise.

I use an inexpensive program - "Diet and Exercise Assistant" and it is great. Helps me stay on pace with my diet

Pros

Counting carbs keeps me from over-indulging and is my number one proven method to keep the daily glucose reading in range

Cons

It is a pain to do this, even though the program above is excellent, it is just a task that I wish I did not have to do.

Goes hand in hand with proper serving sizes.

Pros

It is not a fad that has to be defended. It is a proven method of dietary control. Worth learning. Lots of information available on the carbohydrate and other nutrition content of most foods.

I have been counting carbs sence Sept.19,2009 when my Dr. Told me that I have Diabetes type 2 !which was a big shock to me , I have lost 20 # and I do not have to take metforman any more ! it has been working for me !

This is all we have ever known. Europe is strickly carb counting and have loved the results. Was not even willing to learn

Counting carbs is time consuming but well worth the effort. I find that by BS is in better control when I count carbs. Got to get back to doing this. Calorie King is one on the best that I have found for counting carbs.

When I count carbs I find my blood sugar is under better control.

It is very easy to do even though it does take time, but well worth it. Calorie King is one of the best books I have fournd to help with carb counting.

I find counting carbs much easier than the old
exchanges system of years ago.

Once you get it down it is so helpful. I know exactly how much insulin I need to take when I count carbs

I just ordered a book about carbs so I can count them and get my numbers and weight down
