As soon as I was diagnosed with diabetes, I made some radical changes in my diet. I immediately went from 2% milk to non fat. It only tasted weird to me for about a week because I knew it was best for me. I continue to use this milk and although I have not lost much weight I am losing inches. I highly recommend non fat milk.

Add your reviewI love milk I can drink it all. Can, dry & regular, even CHOCOLATE !!! LOL
When I was a kid, I drank whole milk; couldn't stand anything less. Now, the only time I drink milk is when I mix it with a Carnation Instant Breakfast, so I don't mind the thinner milk.
Just cant stand it
ProsIts nasty
low fat
Consnasty and higher sugar content
I have changed to non-fat milk and although I am not much of a milk drinker, I use it in my cereal and all of my cooking and baking. It has not done a thing for my weight but I am sure I must be helping my healthwise.
ProsIt is fine when you get used to it and it is reducing the fat in the diet, especially if you are a big user of milk. I use it in my sugar free puddings as well.
ConsJust that it has not made a difference in my weight.
Growing up on a dairy farm, we used to drink the milk fresh from the tank. I could never understand why poeple would want to drink "blue milk" as we would call it.I just can't do that anymore and I switched to nonfat and it is ok.
ProsI don't drink alot of milk, but when I do I drink nonfat.
I have honestly tried but there is no taste to it. I do not use a lot of milk because of IBS. I'll cut fat from my diet somewhere else. 2% is as low as I go.
ProsNot a one I can think of.
have been drinking fat free milk for years didnt help to not get diabetes
I've been on 2% for a while the whole family, I need to change to low fat
ProsIt's good for you
ConsHope the taste isnt too different
I am lactose intollerant. I drink lactaid milk 100% lactose free and fat free. My whole family drinks either 1% or fat free milk.
ProsThe lactaid milk does not upset my stomach. The 1% or fat free milk does not make my sister sick either.
ConsThe only con would be that for the milk sugar or lactose they take out, they replace it with regular sugar.
When I was diagnsed with diabetes twas not long before I had high colesterol also. I changed a lot of things. I am a milk lover I did a taste test with my children and we decided to make the change. Now we always look fo 1% cap.
ProsIt taste great, has the same amount of calcium as whole milk with less fat.
Consnon for me
I'm not a milk lover and full-fat milk always made me sick at my stomach. The old-style skim milk was like milk of magnesia—ugh. The filled milk now sold is quite tasty. I still don't drink it very often, but I use it to make jello instant pudding.
ProsLasts forever in the refrigerator.
Works for me, and taste good too.
Better than whole or 2 % milk. Very satisfying.
ProsLess fat.
Consnone
When you say non fat milk are you talking about powdered milk? I was the last of five children and can remember my Mother buying Carnation no fat milk in a box.
ProsIt worked for us as a family tryin to make ends meet.
ConsCan't stand the thought of trying it again
Can't quite bring ourselves to drink this. We have come a long way from whole milk down to 1%. Maybe one day we will go all the way!
ProsLess fat
ConsToo watery and tastes nothing like we think milk should taste. Comes from drinking only whole milk while growing up.
i started drinking non fat milk about 1 yr. ago i like it and it does make a difference
Prosless fat which i need!
Consnone
Does the body good
I have been drinking it for over 20 yrs. and I love it.
My husband, who is 63 and has Type II, has always drunk either skim or 2% - it doesn't see to matter which. His weight doesn't change - the only thing I have seen that brings his weight down is to eat more vegetables and meat. And after 3 years treatment for metastatic melanoma - radiation and chemo - his taste has changed so that he does not like healthy meats! It tastes too dry - so I'm on a constant lookout for something that is good for him and also low fat. Almost impossible!!
Our family has always consumed nonfat milk. So we are used to it. Drinking milk with fatin it at all is like drinking pure cream.
