I use Cymbalta for depression and fibromyalgia. It has worked wonders for my fibro. My everday pain has gone down quite a bit. I still have my occassional flare-ups. I would definately recommend this to anyone with fibromyalgia to try this.
I was given Cymbalta by my foot Dr. to ease pain that was thought to be nerve pain. After tests it was ruled as a Morton's Nyroma. This drug made me feel very weak & nervous.
Cons
heightened my anxiety & I got evry weak. Stopped taking it after 3 days. Did not work for me.
Have taken 60mg for 4 years and seems to do the trick. I don't really notice it when I take it, but if you ever run out,…oh boy can you tell! The emotions are right on the edge!
I have used Cymbalta for about 5yrs.I started using it right after I had my hysterectomy because of nerves. I was like a cat on a hot tin roof. I eventually weened myself off it because I think its lost its effectiveness. I came to this conclusion because I got where I become depressed and sad about things. So I thought that it was time to go without it.
I was put on this drug at 30mg or so (I forget it's been awhile) for anxiety and mild deppresion.
Pros
I was never ever hungry! I can't say that with my regimented eating plan that is a good thing, but it might help some.
Cons
Years ago I tried cocaine a few times with a friend… The 2nd week taking this drug I called that friend to tell her that I had found an RX medication that made me feel EXACTLY the same way cocaine had… hyper, not able to relax, fidgety, overly happy (manic), and sorta zombied out all at the same time. Also I lost all desire for sex. I would never take this drug again, I have heard it works for some, but I recomened sticking with a milder anti-deppresant.
I have used this for over 5 years now. I take 60 mls 2x a day. It helps with my manic depression, post tramatic stress syndrome, suicidal thoughts and actions, and neuropathy and fibromyalgia. This product has been a wonderpill for me. I thought I was going crazy and everyone around couldnt handly my moods, and suicidal thoughts and actions. Yep, its a Godsend for me. I feel so much better about myself and life in general.
Pros
It works for me as far as all my symptoms are considered. My suicidal thoughts are rare, the depression is kept at bay, and I feel like getting up in the morning and making it the best day I can. What price would you pay for good mental and emotional health?
Cons
Its pricey, and most insurances do not cover it. It is considered a Tier 3 product and does not have a generic form yet. The other product to take other than Cymbalta would be the generic form of Prozac.
Pat, the people that ridicule you are the ones that have never been through Diabetes, depression, ect…Next time tell them it's just the luck of the draw, you play the cards God gives you. Or you could always ask them when God gave them the job of judging others. Good luck, Deb.
I have been on Cymbalta 90 mg. for several years intrying to overcome a deep depression—-all of my life, suicidal thoughts, overwhelming most of the time, just TENSE up to ease the emotional pain, I still feel suicidal, but not as much or as often, although lately as I emerge even further from my protective shell. it isn't letting up, so I am writing kind folks re-my diabetis, just starting and easier for ME to cope with at this time! I have NOT had mine go over 190, and it has been about 3 years since my Dr. informed me to exercise and diet, which I am, but still have to take Meformin 750 mg, once daily. One of my problems is the church people that ridicule me for even mentioning that I am a diabetic——-I think that I have come up with a retort, "well, my Dr. is concerned so I think it would be wise to listen to HIM!" All in all, it has not helped my depression to be ridiculed, have to learn to NOT listen to SOME folks! Pat Roth
Pros
I have always had tummy troubles, slightly dizzy etc., so don't think that I can blame Cymbalta for any side effects, and it does calm the suicidal thoughts some—-
I have been on a high dose of this for fibromyalgia. It helps with both that and depression, although I had to go on a different med for the depression.
It's been working for me, my doc started at a very low dosage and gradually increased it and I had to at least call him every week to see how I was doing.Deb
I was on this product a total of 3 wks I think, and I took my self off of it.. My friends told my doctor it worked wonders on her… yea right!!!!
Pros
No appitite,
Cons
I walked around like a zombie for 3 weeks, I almost fell off a cherry picker, with the belt on me, I was confused, It's a wonder how I drove myself to my job and back. I had the shakes all the time, I just gave up. no way never again.

Consheightened my anxiety & I got evry weak. Stopped taking it after 3 days.
Did not work for me.
It made me more tired, impaired my thinking, and caused me to hear things. It didn't help with the depression.
I have taken several different kinds of anti-depressants in the past but this one has worked the absolute best for me.
ProsHas really controlled my mood swings and does not seem to have the wearing off effect the other anti-depressants have had for me.
ConsVery expensive! I have not noticed a significant change in my pain levels enough to say it also works for pain.
Have taken 60mg for 4 years and seems to do the trick. I don't really notice it when I take it, but if you ever run out,…oh boy can you tell! The emotions are right on the edge!

I used Cymbalta for over 2 years for mild depression. I never experienced any side effects and it helped me tremendously.
I have been using this for close to a year for neuropathy and it seems to have helped. I guess if I've had any depression it would be gone too.
helps with the nerve pain that I have.
I've used several other drugs for anxiety issues and this one has been the best.
ProsLow dose does the trick!
ConsNone for me :0)
