Glucagon Emergency Kit

By the5thone Added at March 17, 2009 Views 708 Reviews 12 4.58739 stars

This kit has 2 items to it. A 1mg syringe of water and a bottle of powder medication. It is used for raising a very dangerous low blood sugar level. You take and inject the water into the bottle and gently shake it up to mix it. Then draw it all back into the syringe. Then inject it into any large muscle area

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Could have saved me a trip to the ER if I'd have had one, but I was constantly replacing them due to one year shelf life, and paying out of pocket (had no coverage) so I quit.
Don't get caught w/out one, especially if you experience severe lows.

Pros

Saves lives. Affordable compared to hospital visit or worst case scenario, a life.

Cons

Expensive, 1 year shelf life, requires a prescription

Had to use this once the first day after being released from the hospital after diagnosis. We were treating for carbs and our daughter got the stomach flu from the hospital.

Pros

Works as described.

Cons

Expensive and can only be used for 24 hours after mixing. Seems to have a shelf life of about a year.

I have had to use this kit 4 times in the last 20 years and it has really been a lifesaver.

Pros

Works very quickly to pull you out of a bad reaction.

Cons

When you are extremely low and need to use this injection you should have someone else to help you since it has to be mixed and you might not be able to think enough to handle the two step process while you are low.

Definately a life saving medication! I have had to use it numerous times over the course of my diabetic life.

Pros

Quick acting, very effective.

Cons

Sometimes causes me to go too high too quickly.

Sounds like the Epie pin..spelling…I do believe we'll have to get this, do you have to have a prescription though I wonder?

Pros

Save a life

Cons

Would not be good if no one else wasn't around to give it to ya.

This saved my life once. My husband had to inject me because he couldn't arouse me. Typically when I run low, I wake up in the morning or middle of the night that way. Thank goodness we had this, and my husband knew to use it!

Pros

Life-saving.

Cons

Can't work unless you have it around the house.
