Pecans are also a good source of oleic acid, vitamin B1, thiamin, magnesium and protein.

I much prefer pecans to walnuts, as far as taste goes. They have a lot of fat, but seem to be beneficial in small amounts. I usually only have them one quarter cup at a time, a few times a week. I haven't noticed how pecans affect my blood glucose levels, but then, I am still working out those details. I enjoy pecan halves, raw…just like I used to eat them whilst foraging as a kid.

Pros

Good, portable snack for between meals. Much healthier than many alternative snacks and satisfyingly crunchy.

Cons

Can be an expensive snack depending on where/how they're purchased. High fat, lots of calories.

Pecans really taste good in a sugar free pecan pie. I tried it and liked it.
