April 23, 2009 3:26 PM I just started taking this about a week ago and so far it has worked well. It has reduced the burning, stabbing pains I was having in my legs greatly but it hasn't reduced the numbness that occurs when I stand for more than 15 minutes, hopefully it will be able to help in that area as well. Pros:Easy to take, just swallow the capsules three times a day. This medicine helps reduce the neuropathy pain I have in my legs and I have not noticed any side effects within this first week of using it. Cons:None so far! |

April 8, 2009 10:50 PM I think this is one of THE greatest products for those of us with severe neuropathy. I had tried Lyrica, without success, but I have been on 300 mg of gabapentin 3x/day for about a year. It has helped tremendously. Don't get me wrong--it's not a panacea, but it works the majority of the time. As the saying goes, "I never leave home without it." LOL Pros:It works rapidly and didn't seem to require a long time to build up in my bloodstream in order to be effective. It's in an easy to swallow capsule. Cons:None that I know of. |

April 3, 2009 3:04 AM I was put on this for carpal tunnal syndrome-started at 1 300mg 3x's a day--I took it one day, woke up at 5AM screaming bloody murder from the pain it caused from my fingertips to my neck and into my head. I have never had a medication reation that caused so much pain. I drank lots of water and took 2 50 mg Tramadol, 2 500mg Tylenol

March 11, 2009 5:08 PM I am not on it at the moment but use to be and it worked wonders for quite some years. I ended up on quite some high levels though, then after 15 years or so it just wasn't working anymore. Pros:Works great for quite some time. Cons:Makes you very hungry |

February 24, 2009 10:38 AM CAUTION!!! If you have kidney damage or your kidneys don't function at 100%, this drug may build up in your system and affect behavior, because it is metabolized through your kidneys. I took it for a condition other than diabetic neuropathy; my kidneys were then functioning at about 30%. The dosage began at 900mg per day and eventually increased over the next 4 weeks to 1500mg daily. My behavior became manic with panic attacks and non-stop talking. My psychiatrist (not the prescribing doctor) told me to stop it immediately! Gabapentin had built to toxic levels in my blood. Pros:None for me. Cons:May cause severe behavioral problems! In the drug info I received, there was no mention of caution if kidney damage exists. |
