I have been taking Gabapentin about 1 1/2 years and it has kept me pain free the whole time. I have tried to cut back but the pain comes back. I guess I'm on the right dosage. With out this product I would be screeeeeeeeming.

Pros:

It stops the pain.

Cons:

It will be a life time product so I hope they don't stop making it.

I am currently taking 100mg x 3x a day of Lyrica - this med. sounds like the generic version - which I dont think is out yet.

Pros:

is truly the Miracle Drug of the decade

Cons:

system tends to become immune after 6 - 7 months - started taking 2 x 75 mg daily - just increased to 100 mg x 3 daily

My Physical Med and Rehab Dr. prescribed this for me. It really works for my foot pain. I have been taking this for a couple of years now and I don't have the sharp consistent foot pain any more.

Pros:

Works good for foot pain due to diabetic neuropathy.

Cons:

If you miss a dose here and there....the pain comes back....

They are not the same thing, though they are supposed to give you the same results, relief from neuropathy. Lyrica is supposed to be better(it is the newer one), but everyone has to judge for themselves which one works better for them. And sometimes a combination is the answer. It takes time to play with the meds until you hit on just the right one. Don't give up hope, there are a couple more that might work, Trileptal and Cymbalta. Deb

They raised the dosage several times, I got little to no relief. Now I am taking Lyrica and getting some relief on dose of 3 tablets a day.

I have taken Gaba since 2005 along with other oral meds. I find that it helps with my neuropathy. I tried Lyrica but gained 38 pounds in 3 months. Lyrica helped to block the pain but it only masks the neuropathy. I started Metanx a month ago and it not only helps to block the pain but it actually restores blood flow and repairs some nerve damage.
