I started taking this medicine for my legs and it did not work for me. The doctors took me off of it and put me back on it a few years later. Now, not only does it not work but it makes my stomach hurt.

Took it for 6 months . Prescribed for nerve pain generated by spinal disease. Major memory problems! Employer advised I might want to find another solution or another job.

Pros:

If it works for you I am happy that you are finding relief. It does not work for everyone but worth a try

Cons:

Hated breaking down in tears and embarasing myself when I could not remember my address !

I started gabapentin about a year ago, it seemed to stop working then the doc raised my dosage. I am on 600 mg 2 times a day and it seems to help quite a bit. I sure feel it if I miss it for any reason. The stiffness and pain return after missing just one dose. I still have to take vicoden and ibuprofen for fibromyalgia pain, but the gabapentin helps with that too.

Pros:

Helps with pain and stiffness.

Cons:

None that I have experienced yet.

Drove me crazy! All I did was sit and stare at the tv, didn't move, felt extremely depressed. Finally stopped helping at all. Switched to Lyrica and it's helping immensely.

Pros:

Helps sleep? (even when you don't want to!)

Cons:

Can cause depression, a hangover feeling, doesn't last forever.

none of the medications for neuropathy worked for me . i have been in pain for 5 years, was hardly able to walk. did a lot of research and found a podiatric surgeon that did tarsel tunnel nerve release and got instant relief in my pain.. check out the information at the delon institute. find a podiatric surgeon who does this surgery and see if you are a candidate.

I have been taking it now for about 7 months. I took it for a while about 5 years back, but quit taking it because I couldn't afford it for a while. I don't notice much of a change in level of pain/burning/tingling than before I started back on it. But maybe I need Dr to bump up my dose.

Cons:

So far I really can't tell the difference with or without it, but hope it will work better with an increased dose,
