Add your reviewI have dine water walking, water aerobics f & deep water for the past 6 years between surgeries
I found that I get the best workout with deep water
This is something I've been wanting to take up, seems like it would be lots of fun
This has worked for me in the past with firming up and losing weight. I have an rx from my surgeon for water therapy as soon as I get over this bug…it's for my surgical knee.
ProsGood and gentle exercise
ConsI may be a little sore for awhile until I get used to it again but the benefits are worth it
I had a pool in my backyard and the pump went out . Since I have not been getting in the pool I have gained weight
Prospool walking is great
Consnone so far
I do aquatics at least 3 times a week. It's awesome exercise.
water therapy is great. for everyone. its great exercise and at low impact.
Prosit works for almost everything and everyone
Conshaven't found one yet
We live pretty far out in the country so I don't have easy access to gyms or spas but we put up an above ground pool ( 5 ft. deep - 18 ft. across) that has enabled me to get beneficial aquatic exercise.
ProsI found that just getting into the pool for about 30 minutes a day helped me lower my BG levels.
The task of cleaning the pool keeps me active daily by walking around and scooping out debris from leaves and what-not with the net.
Plus the effect of the buoyancy of the water helps with my arthritis and joint pain by reducing the effects from gravity.
ConsThis type of exercise isn't available year-round for me as we still get cold weather even here in Florida so I can only use the pool from about April to October.
I personally have not tried this yet but was told by two people I know that did this weekly how much it helped them. I think it's worth trying out.
Just wanted to report that for a week now, I have been doing water aquatics. The YMCA in my town started a class and I joined. After just one week, I really do love this type of exercise. I feel like I am able to last longer with this type of exercise and it does not tire me so easy like most other exercise.
ProsGrest way to burn calories and exercise!
ConsJust wish I had started it a year ago. lol
We do this in the winter when we snowbird to Ariz.
ProsHelps my weight loss, and my Arthritis.
Consnone
Today is my assessment at the health center.
i try to go at least twice a week. the water is 80-102 in 3 different pools. it helps with arthritis, stress, and keeps my sugar down.
I have stepped it up a number. I got into water aroebics. This is fun. The whole class works at their on speed. The instructor is not hard on you. You do as much as you can without over doing.
ProsThis is the second best thing that I ever did for myself. Stop smoking was the first.
ConsNone except the more I go the more I want too.
I go for my assessment Tuesday. Hopefully I will be starting this week.
SEems like more I go the better I feel.I can't wait to get in the water. It feels so gooood.
ProsI believe my neuropathy and arthritis is better. I can walk better.
ConsNone
I thought it was great.
ProsExcellent exercise for me as a senior citizen.
ConsNot easily accessible. The Ymca is only source in my town and too expensive.
I loved it when I used this as exercise for rehabilitaton years ago after being in a car wreck in 1990. Water is probably one the besrt forms of exercise used because it allows a complete body work out. I would love to start this again in the near future.
We have a health center that I will be starting in a few weeks. I'll let you know more about it once I've been.
My wife and I do this on our own. We use our daughter's pool when home. Then when we go to Arizona for the winter we use it at our pool in our complex.
ProsVery helpful on arthritis, walking in place. burn calories
ConsHaving a pool to use?
I, myself, have not tried this but have always wanted to. Maybe someday they will offer this type of activity where I live.
ProsAn excellent exercise not just for seniors but for everyone.
ConsIt is not offered where I live.
