I do three miles a day when I walk. I'm thinking about getting a bicycle to alternate.

Michael, do you know what the equivalents are? Like is walking a mile roughtly equivalent to biking 2 miles?

I walk 6-8 miles a day I use a Omron HJ-112 which is the top of the line. New there about 50-60 dollars shop amazon and you can get the for about half. It tracks everything but your mph

Wife and I just stared walking in the morning in the local park and it would be great for us to see how much we are doing thanks for the idea.

I usually walk 5-6 miles per day using my pedometer to validate my steps. When I first started I use to think 1000 steps was a lot, not now. I just put one foot in front of the other one. Since I have been doing this for a year I now am doing the 10,000 steps in a much shorter time.

I thought that 10,000 steps was impossible until i did it i have a pedometer on my cell phone i have a Sony Ericsson Walkman. If I can do it so can you. When talking on the phone walk around the yard when going to visit a neighbor walk not drive if the store isn't to far try walking there instead of driving but please start small. like just walking to the stop sign and back.10,000 step is the total steps from the time you wake up until you go to bed you can do it I know you can. Keep your head up!

my job has a program that if you track your steps they will reward you on your health insurance. so in a way it is a great way to save money and lose weight!

Pros

i think this is a great idea to keep up with how many steps you do in a day and then try to increase it daily or weekly.

Cons

i spent $13 for mines and unless i have it position in the right place on my leg then my steps don't count. :(

Easy to use. I have one you can clip to a
shoe or carry in a pocket. You don't need a
belt.

Pros

I enjoy seeing the numbers at the end of the day.
Its a game I play with myself.

Cons

none

Does anyone else have an experience with a brand name they have used, and recommend… and why do you like it?

I use the Accusplit Eagle. I clip it to my left top of sock each morning. It works better than clipped to my waist. When you buy a pedometer look for a cover. With open meters it is too easy to hit the reset button and you lose all your steps and start over without knowing it.

Pros

Can keep on track with counting steps.

have one, use it, love it… get one, use it, discover the miles you walk, or don't, and how you feel because you do… or don't… motivating for sure…

Pros

simple

Cons

none that I'm aware of…

I've tried three different makes and none of them worked properly. I find it safer to walk on known distance trails when mileage is important.

Pros

Sounds good on paper.

Cons

Inaccurate. Unpredictable.
