I started having horrible night sweats with my lows, and my blood sugars have been roller coastering. 38 to 370! UGH!! I'm going back on humalog today to see if this helps, but all these things started happening with the apidra. I was in fairly good control before, and thought the apidra would help a little more, but I have spiraled out of control. SOOO happy to have humalog back in my pump today!

I started on this 2 days ago, and bs levels have gone from 240 to 280 to 140 to 160. I also use Lantus 30 units at bedtime, so this really helps to compliment that.

Pros:

Fast acting

I just started Apidra one week ago. I am now on a pump and have been told by my doctor that it is one of the best for pumps, as it does not clog the pumps as easy as some of the other ones.

Pros:

My blood sugars are finally in the normal range most of the day. Finally got them under 400. Have been averaging about 130 which is great for me.

Cons:

Works fast when I take the Bolus so I need to make sure I am going to eat right then to prevent lows.

I've been using Apidra for about 4 months and find it very good.

Pros:

Insulin corrections kick in VERY FAST, which is a huge benefit.

Cons:

My postprandials (normal post-meal blood sugar levels) are not really much different than with any other insulin. In other words, doses for meals seem to absorb at a "normal" rate, vs. corrections when I'm not eating, which are faster.
