You have to be REALLY careful with this product. In some people, myself included, Agave Nectar reacts just as much as corn syrup! I read this in The Belly Fat Cure Diet and did my own research. Yes! My BG level skyrocketed well above 240 when I had two teaspoons in my coffee! So be AWARE people. This could really affect you. Be well.

I've used this product for two years now and love the taste. I use it in my coffee daily and have even used it in a cornbread recipe which tasted even better because it made it a little moist instead of dry as many cornbreads tend to be. It's also good on toast and tastes and looks like honey. It metabolizes slowly.

It has a pleasant taste and may be suitable for some but it raised my BS higher than I was comfortable with.

I have been using agave nectar for almost a year as an alternate sweetner for the few times I use a sweetner

Pros

Raoses blood sugar level very slowly so my Humalog has more than enough time to work. No spike - just a very gradual increase then gradual decline.

Cons

It does raise the blood sugar some so has to be included in the carb counting to calc the amount of insulin to offset it.
