July 3, 2008 9:22 AM I have been using agave nectar for almost a year as an alternate sweetner for the few times I use a sweetner Pros:Raoses blood sugar level very slowly so my Humalog has more than enough time to work. No spike - just a very gradual increase then gradual decline. Cons:It does raise the blood sugar some so has to be included in the carb counting to calc the amount of insulin to offset it. |
