This seems to be a good diabetic medicine. There is no weight gain with this.
Januvia is a DPP-4 inhibitor (blocker). DPP-4 blockers enhance the body's own ability to control blood sugar levels. It is a once-a-day prescription pill.

Add your reviewI didnt realize this pill was an inhibitor or blocker, I will have to read up more on it.
It definitely controls my blood sugar.
It helped keep my bg's lower, but… see cons
ConsIt states there is a possibility of swelling in feet, hands, legs, and other places. Well.. I have a heart condition and have to keep swelling away always with Lasix.. that wasn't even enough to keep all the swelling I had from Januvia away. It's a good drug if you can tolerate it and the swelling etc.
Seems to be working really well for me.
Conscost is quite high.
works very well but very expensive even with insurance
I took Januvia for about a year in combination with Glyburide/Metformin.
ConsThe combination did not control my BS well - it was all over the place. I would wake up at night with a BS of 37 or have a BS of 298 in the middle of the day. Very expensive also.
My doctor just perscribed this and so far it seems to be working well. My sugar levels are the best they have been in awhile
Going to ask my Doctor about this…

Works for me!
didn't work for me.
Prosim sure it works for some people
Consnot strong enough for me.
I have been on this along with metformin. This combo is working. Sugar is under control.
ProsNo bad side effects like weight gain.
So far this seems to be working for me. I was on Metformin. I was having to many side effects from it. I have only been on the Januvia for about three weeks. So I will see how it goes.
ProsIt seems to be helping so far.
ConsThe cost.
have been taking for a moth seams to be helping
Took Avandia for 8 years. Have been on Januvia for 7 months. Best diabetic medicine I have ever taken. None of the bad side effects you get from Avandia. I take it with 500 mg of Metformin.
ProsHave lost most of the weight I gained taking Avandia. After 7 months have lost 58lbs with exact same diet. Legs no longer swell. Breathing is better. Heart stronger. Sugar levels down below 100. Sleep better.
ConsNone. Has none of the side effects that Avandia has.
I have been taking for about 3 weeks. Really seems to be helping with my sugars. Was taken off so much Metformin because of upset stomach. This medicine has metformin in it but doesn't upset my stomach.
ProsReally good medicine. Doesn't upset my stomach.
ConsI have been taking samples from my doctor. Have checked on-line with my insurance and it says it won't pay for it!!! Now what do I do?????
I like Januvia does work
Prossometimes i still have some high sugar problems and the cost when i am into the cap of my insurance is too high
I am a Type 2 diabetic and had been taking Januvia along with Glyburide for over 3 years. My last A1C was 6.2. Recently (within the last 3 months I started having trouble with low blood sugar) it was mainly because I was being more careful of what I ate. I also lost over 30 pounds in the last 4 months and still going.
ProsThere were no side effects plus I only had to take it once a day. I am a person who generally has trouble with chemicals and suffer side effects from many medications but with Januvia I did not have any side effects.
ConsI have a severe reduction in my income and with my insurance this drug is listed as a Tier 3 drug. A 90 day supply would cost $100.00 so my physician said since my A1C has dropped from 11.4 to 6.2 over a 3 year period I don't need to take it any longer. The main reason I had to stop is because of the cost.
had to stop taking because ins. refused to pay. Was taking this with Fortamet & both were helping alot!!
Proslowered bs & A1c
no weight gain
I have been on Januvia for 6 months and it has really helped me alot. My morning sugar used to be really high.
ProsI have had no side effects and have lost alot of weight.
ConsThe cost ($25.00/month)
