August 21, 2009 2:04 PM I have been on Metformin since I was diagnosed in 2006. I started taking 500mg twice a day. It worked for a while and then about 3 months ago my doctor up it 1000mg twice a day because my readings were over 300mcg all the time. It has been helping keep my readings down around 100mcg to 155mcg. Pros:It has help keep my sugar where it is supposed to be. Cons:I have had gallbladder surgery and diarriha(sp) everyday since I started taking it. I also have Irritable Bowel syndrome. I don't know if the meds are the cause but I am pretty sure because I didn't have this problem before. But sometimes you have to take the bad to get the good out of something. |

August 15, 2009 8:00 PM New discoverey about Metformin. Follow the directions carefully. Pros:More energy.....a month ago I was sleeping 24/7 and out so cold I did not hear fire trucks outside my window. Cons:Yesterday and Today I broke some rules and paid. I have been taking my meds after breakfast and knock wood had no issues. Yesterday and today I had to do something for another person and skipped eating and took my meds. I finally ate about 4 hours later. I did have a large bottle of water BUT nothing to eat until noon. Well it is now 4 p.m. and the cramps are unreal as are the results. Yes, it happened yesterday and I ate something earlier and different. My guess is that taking it with food is what has kept this away until now. TOMORROW.....breakfast first.... |
