October 6, 2008 11:35 AM I have been on the pump only 7 years and the more I am on it, the easier it gets. As you know the pump is only good aws you learn to use it. I t has quit a few things to get usd to. My A1C before the pump was 12.0 and now it is 5.9. It also allows you to eat many foods that were not available to diabets many years ago. If you have the chance to get one, please do it. Pros:You can eat anything, just have to know the carbs so you can pump it. You don't have to eat or go to bed at certain time. You are of the structure mode when you takes shots. It changes alot of things for you and your family and friends. Medtronic has come up with a glucose monitoring carelink personal software mgmt. tool. If you have diabetic meeting in your area, I feel you should go, you can learn all sorts of things. This Glucose Monitoring is injected into just like the pump and you change it every 6 or 7 days, tells you your blood sugars 24/7, and in that way, you would not have so many lows or comas. You can Medtronics @800-999-9859 x.2952 Cons:The one things the doctors don't tell you that is you gain alot of weight, because you can eat anything. The low reactions you sometimes you get, but otherwise it is a good investment. |

October 3, 2008 8:32 PM I have been on the Minimed since it first came out. Before that, I was on a "Eugly" pump (about the size of a paperback book). The minimed is fantastic. As a professional studio musician, it was very difficult to have any kind of "regular" schedule. The pump is perfect for that situation (unhappily, I'm much more insulin resistant now, so I have to keep a more regular schedule.) I HIGHLY recommend the pump for those who want to live a fairly "regular" life with their diabetes. Pros:Convenient; easy to use; easily becomes a part of "everyday life"; synchronizes with computer programs for easier tracking of glucose readings, trends, etc. (GREAT info for the doctor.) Cons:Expensive, especially if you don't have insurance that covers. |

August 25, 2008 7:52 PM Actually I am writing this review as a result of a friends use of the product. Pros:She says it has changed her life. From my point of view her personality seems so much more vibrant since her getting one. She even finds pricking her finger easier because she gets a result and is able to adjust intake quicker. Cons:None |
