This medicine was just added for me. It works very well. No side affects. There has been no weight gain (in fact, I lost 5 lbs in a month).
ProsI like that I need only take it once a day & also the fact that it is only 4 mg.

amaryl is the only medication that has worked to keep my diabetes under control.
Prosglucose levels stay in normal range
The first diabetic med for me, It worked well with no side effects. I currently use it occasionally along with another med .
ProsWorks well with little or no side effects!
ConsAlthough I didn't gain weight, I found it difficult to lose weight.
I have taken this drug for 9 years. I take 2mg four times per day to avoid hypoglycemia. Have taken other T2 medications, but always come back to this one.
ProsWorks very well to lower high blood sugars. Works well as a primary diabetic medication. Very nice small pills.
ConsBe careful not to take too high a dose (for you) because of hypoglycemia risks.
I'm using this
I took this for over 2 years and experienced frequent hypoglycemic episodes and significant weight gain, despite my efforts to the contrary. The most significant effect was a serious flair up of my congestive heart failure. New doctor told me I should never have been on this product because of cardiac history and am slowly improving after changing to different oral med.
ProsGood control of hyperglycemia.
ConsWeight gain, episodes of hypoglycemia, not suitable for some cardiac patients.

So far it has done for me exactly what it is supposed to.
ConsAnd…yes it has caused me to gain weight and I just keep putting the weight on.
I have been on this since January. Have had no side effects.
ProsHelps keep my morning sugars lower.
Consnone as of yet.
I took this for a little while but did not work for me. If your body is not producing any Insulin then there is nothing to secrete.
This heelps with my other med (Glucontrol)—I take it 1/2 hour before meals
