July 4, 2009 1:47 AM Kind of worked for me. It would wear off at varying times, leaving my morning numbers high (really high at some times). Tried splitting it up, and the same thing would happen. It would not keep my mornings in check. Pros:A good basal insulin. Had no problems while using Humalog with it. Cons:It can burn while injecting. Expensive. Wear off within 24 hours |

June 24, 2009 6:43 PM Docotors tried this on my hubby years ago it did bring his B/S down, however he complained about not feeling right while taking the Lantus and had very pronouced personality changes. After explaining the changes he was having to the Doc. He discontinued this medicine. And shortly after that hubby was back to his old self. Pros:Lowered B/S almost immediately after starting it. Cons:unusal side-effects or adverse reaction. |

June 15, 2009 5:05 AM I nave used Lantus for longer than I can remember. I went from using a long acting Lilly product with very poor results...low BSLs multiple tiomes in the nite...sometimes hourly ona bad night to rarely ever having the problem after switching to Lantus. It gives me a very stable baseline to work with. I use Humalog with Lantus..not injected/mixed in the same syringe! I take my Lantus at the same time I take my first injection of Humalog in the morning. 2 different syringes. The late night thing was too variable for me as I can vary as much as 4 hrs on going to bed at night and just too much hassle, sooo I figured it out on my own and my Dr gave his blessing. I has been a real blessing to my regimen. Cons:Damned Expensive!!!!! Sooo, off to Canada I go :>) |

June 14, 2009 12:40 AM Works fine with my Novolog. Pros:Works well as my long-acting insulin. Works for almost the full 24 hours. Cons:Weight gain. Even if I increase the dosage only slightly, I will gain more weight. Easy 10# weight gain when started Lantus. Have to continue to be very careful with diet or more weight comes on EASILY. |
