Used several meters liked my Biomine better but the strips cost 4x more than the contours

I use the Wavesense Jazz which I love..but recently I was able to get my hands on the contour for almost nothing. Love the concept..great software..but WOW was this thing WAY OFF as far as accuracy! I have several other meters that I tested it against using different fingers with a fresh blood sample. All were very close to each other, but the Contour OMG 30 points higher than the rest! Scary!

Inaccurate to say the least. I have tested 3 times at the same puncture site, only enough time between tests for the meter to accept a new strip. Results were 24, 431 and 118. I am going back to my One Touch!

I like the meter in general but it lacks some features I look for and has some strange setup items.

Pros

1. Small blood sample.
2. No coding.
3. Can set up after meal reminder alarms.
4. Can tag results before or after meal and "other."
5. Can turn the beep off.
6. Strips are OK to handle and use.

Cons

1. Can't tag readings for specific meals or activity. Eg before breakfast, during exercise, feeling unwell.
2. If you want the advanced setup features (before/after meal tagging and personal Hi/Low settings in particular) you have to set the post meal alarm. It would be nice to have the option of turning it off by default but be able to select it on a per meal basis if wanted.
3. Pretty much no on meter functions. It just has some very basic averages.
4. Terrible lancing device.

I currently use this meter and love it. It takes less blood for the test and it
does not take as long as some of the
other meters.

Pros

very easy to use

Cons

none

Still my favorite meter by far. When It was time for an updated meter, I called the number on the back of my meter and the asked me a couple of questions about my meter and sent me an updated one for free. Better yet, I did not have to send my old meter back to them!

Pros

Greatest meter I have used.

Cons

still none

This has been my favorite meter thus far. I've used several others over the past few months, and keep coming back to the Contour.

Pros

5-second results. Extensive memory. No coding. Gives 7/14/30 day averages based on testings.

Cons

It's a little bigger than some of the other meters I've used.

Just been diagnosed on Monday. So I'm really new to this, but the Contour Meter is very easy to use. It has helped to take the fear out of what I'm suppose to do.

Pros

Really like it

Cons

none
