Just in case anyone has issues like I do. I had my glucose checked at Little Clinic yesterday because they are doing free screenings and I like to see what they get for readings. It is where I shop. Anyway, I have not been able to get blood out of the side of my finger and get little out of the pad. I thought it was the lancing device but now I believe it is ME…She tried several times before she got enough for BS and Cholesterol
Proseasy to use and can use other areas
Conssometimes doesn't spring load and you must redo
I have been using this lancet device for years.
ProsThough I use an ACCU-Chek compact meter, I prefer the FreeStyle Lancet device. It's easier to use and I like that I can put the twist off top back on the needle once it's used.
I am new at this and just received my meter the Freestyle Lite when I attended a health fair.
I seem to have issues getting blood out of the side of my finger which is suppose to be less painful. This has 5 levels so I am not sure if I need a higher number. I tried numbers one and two and they did not draw blood from the side
Proseasy to use
fits in case with meter and supplies
various levels and works on alternate sites
not painful, I am a wimp FYI
Consnot sure what numbers to use for my forearm and side of finger
A nice lancing device. Small, yet very little pain. I like the fact that I can also use it on my arm instead of fingers.
ProsSmall, can use on arm.

I have used Freestyle meter and lancet for over a year. No problems here. Good blood draw. I have tried other lancets and am not real happy with them.
ProsGood depth control and adaquate blood drop. Little pain associated with it.

I have used many lancing devices but did not care for this at all…Debe
ProsIt gets blood…Debe
ConsSometimes waiting for the pinch and the spring gets stuck. Hurts like heck..Debe
My second of these has just failed… after maybe a year of use.
I have never used another lancing device, so I don't know if there is a better one or not. I do really like the freestyle one that I have though. I have tried it on my arm once, but didn't draw very much blook, so haven't tried it since.
I like this device I finally found one that I can use on my forearm. I never could it the with one in my one touch ultra smart.
I love the Freestyle meters and this lancet is Good but no better than my newest one with the One touch ultrasmart meter!
ProsIt's small and easy!
ConsNothing really!
I have used many lancing devices in my day, but this one hurts the MOST of all. I love the freestyle meters, but when I use them I use a different lancing device.
Prosum…uh…well it's small I guess
Consone word-YOUCH!
I have used this lancing device for 3 yrs. now. When I get a new meter I still use my Free Style.

Used this for almost 6months and it has been ok.
ProsI like this lancet better then my old one because I can use it on other parts of the body if the finger do get sore or if you want to.

There are two physical sizes of this device: one that comes with the original Therasense Freestyle, and a smaller one that comes with the Freestyle Flash (and I presume all later models).
ProsDual caps for fingertip and alternate-site testing… but the AST cap works fine for fingertip as well. Fits nicely in the case for the associated monitor.
ConsSpring mechanism may begin to stick after a year or so; extremely sensitive to very small changes in the length of the lancet inserted in it; twisting off the lancet cap while inserted tends to pull out the lancet, and putting the cap back on after a test tends to re-cock the device.
