2 books that are helpful for the newly diagnosed. The first one is Blood Sugar 101 by Jenny Ruhl. Amazon carries it either hardback or Kindle. Explains why you track your blood sugar and how; the importance of taking it and the products to use. It also gives a list of foods we can and should not eat. Also has recipes which are very helpful. The 2nd one is The First Year: Type 2 Diabetes by Gretchen E. Becker. This explains the feelings we have, the frustrations and fears. It covers a vast amount and I could identify with most of it. It's a type of diary that goes from day 1 through the first year of coping.
I use this software to track my glucose levels but it has way more options for tracking just about everything you could need. Exports to .csv file for uploading to Microsoft Excel or for emailing to your doctor for analysis. Great tool!
