Paradigm Real Time Insulin Pump

The MiniMed Paradigm® REAL-Time System is the world's first diabetes management tool to combine insulin pump technology with a continuous glucose monitoring system. Together, the devices closely mimic the insulin delivery of a real pancreas, an advantage over using a pump alone.

a question is it hard to learn the carb counting you have to do to get the insurance to cover it?
i take lantus and humalog i was told lantus would be done away with and i would only be on humalog . sort of scary as well as new to me.

i would NEVER go back to daily injections. I LOVE my pump. I have had the pump for about 9 years… and went through several different upgrades. I currently have this one, with the cgm. my sugars have never been better, and i would recommend it to anyone.

Pros

everything. better quality of life, better blood sugars…

Cons

expensive- but usually covered by insurance if you take insulin and could stand for better control.

This is a god-send for me. I am sorry I did not get it sooner. Now to get the CGM part of it. My BG's are soooo much better with this machine

Pros

The greatest thing I have ever had. No more continues sticking myself. Just once and the insulin is delivered for three days.

Cons

It is expensive, so you need insurance to cover, but it is worth it.
