6 more diabetes genes identified

LONDON - U.S. and European scientists have found six more genes that make people more susceptible to developing type 2 diabetes, in a study they say may help prevent and treat the chronic condition.

The finding extends the total number of genes linked to the disease to 16 and provides clues to how the biological mechanisms that control blood sugar levels go awry when people get type 2 diabetes, the researchers said.

Egg Consumption Poses Risks for Diabetic Men

A new study suggests that consuming more than six eggs a week seems to raise the risk of dying from all causes.

Pfizer warns of lung cancer with inhaled insulin

Pfizer Inc and Nektar Therapeutics said on Wednesday clinical trials of the inhaled insulin Exubera found increased cases of lung cancer, leading Nektar to stop seeking a marketing partner for the troubled product and abandon it.

Diabetic suing Dollywood for sugared soda mixup

William Kinne is diabetic, and in a suit filed Friday, he says he made that very clear to his waitress at Dollywood's Back Stage Restaurant.

Kinne says he ordered a Diet Coke and asked the waitress repeatedly to be sure it was diet, after he noted it tasted strange.
