“Thank you in advance for your willingness to help. I have many highs and lows even when I am not sick. I am type 2 and control my blood sugars with diet and exercise. I do not get much exercise due to a recent knee surgery. I am not on meds for my diabetes and I see my doctor for a check up every 3 months. My A1c is steadily rising. Do you have any... read more

What steps do we have to take to get off all insulin and get back on oral medications again? I want to feel the way I used to with this disease and still keep the numbers down as well as the weight.

Can a fasting blood sugar level of 170 to 216 be a normal range for a person or is that too high? I'm thinking way too high! But I’ve been adjusting my insulin (Lantus) by 2 cc's every 4 days. I started at 25 twice a day. It's now 32 twice a day. So I’m wondering if a range somewhat higher than what is considered normal be a good range for certain people?

I am a long-time vegetarian who doesn't eat mushrooms, avocados or lentils. So varied protein sources are a little tougher to incorporate (especially out of the home—which I am often, since I travel a lot for business and leisure). Any suggestions? I do eat dairy, but nothing that has a face or babies.

My mom is also a diabetic type 2 for over 30 years. Recently her sugar has been OK in the morning but out of control after noon—being over 200 or as low as 45 (once) even if she only eats vegetables. She takes medications for hypertension and water retention, plus vitamins, and calcium. My concern is the instability of the readings and how sick she has gotten from this. She lives in the Dominican Republic... read more

Fruit and fruit juices do not raise my sugar levels. I was just wondering why? When I bottom out, I have to eat candy, or peanut butter, or even drink regular soda.
