Agree with Sky, taxation as a means to control a person's freedom to behave as they choose is a bad idea.

I dont think the government needs to step in and regulate stuff like how we eat. They need to be only concerned with the bigger issues like staying in/out of wars, economy and regulate big buisnesses like the oil companies. All they are seeing is money from the junk food tax. If you think that will heelp junk food junkies, you are sadly mistaken.

I disagree with the effectiveness of a junk food tax in combating production and\or consumption of junk food.
A prime example is the " sin tax " on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, they have not caused a decline in the use of them.
The Awareness and Education of Diabetes and it's Complications is the key to success in this area.
Human nature is a tough enemy to battle.
That's my personal opinion, I'm sure that many will disagree.
