The latest weapon in the battle of the bulge may be as close as your kitchen pantry.
Ordinary household vinegar — used to make oil-and-vinegar salad dressings or pickles — appears to turn on genes that help fight fat, researchers in Japan report.
Vinegar has long been touted as a cure-all for many ills. The substance has been used a folk medicine remedy since ancient times. Modern medical evidence is slowly adding credence to some of the claims. In recent years, research has suggested that the main chemical in vinegar, called acetic acid, can help control blood pressure and blood sugar.

Just the thought of trying this makes my tummy flip flop. But, if it works maybe they can come up with a pill that would be easy on the stomach.
You know what—-I have been thinking (ouch) but vinegar is also used to CLEAN surfaces, all sorts of combinations with baking soda, etc—for use in cleaning. Is this one reason it can be hard on tummies too? Just thinkn'—hugs, PR
This info has been around for years. I read the entire article and nothing new but the tests on the lab rats has been done. I have tried taking apple cider vinegar and found that after a while it seemed more tedious than beneficiary for me. Maybe if I look at it in a different light I will be able to continue using it.
Sounds interesting, but like Pat says…I have Gurd and I worry of trying to do this. *shrug* I dunno, may just try somehow though. Thanks Avera!! Sheila
My RN friend, tried to sell me on that when I was working with her 20 years ago, BUT I have Gurd, would vomit from the acid, even if I diluted it, so will have to pass on this one. thanks anyway—PR
