According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 21 percent of people who apply for health insurance on their own get turned down, charged a higher price for their policy, or are offered a plan that excludes coverage for their pre-existing medical condition. So what is the best route to take to getting health insurance if you've already been diagnosed? Add your commentHopefully, there will soon be universal healthcare. My sister battled breast cancer last year (she's ok now!) and will be laid off from her job. COBRA is so expensive, but she's afraid to drop the coverage.
