We have arranged for Jessica Gibbons, a Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitian, to field some of your most important questions. Jessica has over a decade of experience teaching people with diabetes about nutrition, exercise, medication management, carbohydrate counting, and the latest in diabetes management technology.
We recognize the tremendous good that has been done here as members have come together to share all that we’ve learned and to support each other. However, we also recognize that there are times that we really need an expert to weigh in and teach us all.
Submit your questions below for Jessica. We hope to make this a permanent feature of the site. For now, we're testing the idea. Please note that Jessica may not be able to answer all of the questions submitted in this first round. We’ll do our best to get as many answered as we can. Thank you for your understanding.
(Important note: Any answer provided does not constitute medical advice or recommendation. If you are having a medical emergency, you should seek immediate professional care. You should not rely on any answers provided on this website to replace consultations with your doctor.)

May 9, 2009 5:45 PM I am difficulty sending my question to Jessica. I always wake up with glucose numbers in the morning ( 240 is the norm even thought I take oral medication at bedtime). What can I do to get better numbers in the morning? |

May 9, 2009 5:39 PM I am type 2 diabetic on Januvia 100mg at breakfast, and Starlix 120mg before meals. I am supposed to be on 1800 cal diet but with all the talk on glycemic index and other changes, how do I breakdown my meals into manageable amounts that will help keep BS within proper range? Is there some guideline that says how many servings and of what to eat at each meal? I've just been playing a kind of russian roulette by eating what I think might work and seeing what happens? Any guidelines? Thank YOU |
