Treat Heat Exhaustion with Natural First Aid
Heat exhaustion is one of the biggest problems outdoor types face during the summer. Even in colder climates, hiking and other physical activity can bring on heat exhaustion. There are some natural first aid options available to you if you’ve packed a full first aid kit.
Besides being tasty, peppermint is a natural coolant. Drinking peppermint tea or splashing a couple of drops of peppermint oil on your skin can help you cool down. Raspberry tea also works well at this, though you should drink the tea cool if you can to help with reducing your body’s heat.
Make your own sports drink. The benefit that sports drinks have over water is that they can replace needed electrolytes and cool you down. Adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a bottle of cool water will work just like a sports drink, but is a natural first aid trick rather than a sugar-laden commercial product.
