This article really hits home. When I got to the part about people who still worried even though they have health insurance, I felt they were surely talking about me.

My insurance pays for part of the price of my medicine and I also get a good payment for doctor visits, but these pay outs do not add to the deductable amount. That means that if I need a new sleep apnea mask, I couldn't get money help with it until the deductable was met.

Since I haven't met my deductable, I can't afford a new mask right now. I don't mean to complain because I am blessed and have insurance when many others do not. I just wanted to make the point that even people with insurance such as myself who are on a fixed income can't afford the high prices of the medical extras required to battle our disease.
