"The question becomes not what suffering will come to us, but what stand we will take toward it. Whether by accident or by the cruelty of others, suffering comes our way, yet all the misfortune in life or the ill-will of humanity cannot penetrate the sanctuary of our soul. It is here that we take our stand. It is here that we take courage. It is here that we overcome the world."

I was listening (sort of) to the t.v. and heard a quote that I like very much. I'm not sure if it is Winston Churchill's, as I wasn't paying close attention…maybe Paul Whitchell?? Anyway: "Calm down and move on".

I like that! It's funny how you can be not paying any attention, yet certain things will pop out and get your ear.

Hey, Danni, you are too young to feel like that, maybe you need a change of pace, like seeing the sunshine that has been so elusive for all of us this winter! haha—I think I am getting a case of "cabin fever" haha—Love you, Pat R

Danni-the-diabetic March 2, 2010 at 12:17 am0 Likes
Yes Pat, this morning was cold, however this afternoon was sunny and beautiful. I have a fear of the future, I believe it's only because I have no big goals in my life to look forward to. When I start school I will get excited about the future again. However, I am not looking forward to the hot, humid summer we have down hear…that's when I would like to move back to New York or Jersey lol.
Is it snowing where you are? You can get rid of your cabin fever by going out and playing in the snow and building a snowman, than you can take a picture and put it up in your pictures so I can look at it and live vicariously through you lol and I will take a picture of the sun and birds and you can do the same.
:) Danni -

Hahah—you know, Danni, I have been thinking of how hard most of us are trying to be perfect, not be aware of our emotions and desires—-I do get outside, pull dead debris away from plants, look forward to the sun being out more, but not all care for gardening, not even the sun—so we must each find our own "turn-on" valve—music, reading, a career that we sometimes fall into by getting out and doing lots of things. The best to you, Danni, and ALL. Pat R

I have that thing I do that takes me away. I'm all about playing and listening to music and writing.
I'm not a negative person. I use to dread waking up each day, so I have come a long day and soon I'll be stoked about everyday. It's not going to happen over night, but you all here have been a help and support.

Don't give up, just grow up.
One of MY FAVOIRITE sayings to our children—-
"Because I said so!" hahah—we are studying about folks questioning the "Whys" of God—-then adapted it to our own every day lives—-My mom used to call me to help her out with the dishes, "Patsy, come and help me wash dishes—-"
"OK, Mom. Wait till I finish this paragraph"—-and of course if she didn't yell again "in time" I started the NEXT paragraph! Finally the words that resounded throughout our small home were, "Patricia Ann, who do you think you are, the Queen of Sheba??!!" THEN I went, but I sure didn't ask, "WHY?!" haha—poor mom—lucky she just had one kiddo——PR -

I try to encourage my girls to give everything a go in life, so I like these quotes:
Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.

Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), -

Here is one that i am kinda partial to…I believe music defines our lives..
some days we dance to the blues, some days we hear the love songs, some days we need a little jazz, but every single day should ""rock"". -

I really had to force myself to adopt the following philosophy, but it's been a wonderful thing:

Wow, that is impressive, babel 7!! Since I love gardening, I will probably retain that one as I will always have a constant reminder, my yard has so many wild violets! Love them! Pat R

Hey Pat Roth!
I'm not babel_7 (at least I don't think so)…but I too love violets!
What I love most about Twain's quote is the implied subtlety of forgiveness, that it's as momentary and fleeting as something in the air. You have to catch the moment before it's gone.
Well, at least that's what I get from it!

Here's another that I have always LOVED:

Sorry, my mistake. I like to use folks' names when replying, scrolled up too far, but know that you understand—-I love violets too, dug some up from my yard and transplanted them into borders aroung my rock gardens where they really did flourish—when not tromped on. No pun or insult meant, just me trying to make a statement—-sigh—PR

MAYS, what Confucius said reminds me of what Will Rogers said a few centuries later:
