I too want to see my grandbabies someday. I also want to live a quality life and be able to do the things I love to do. I want to be here to love and support my family and friends through good times and bad. And that is just the tip of the iceberg as far as my reasons and desire to live a long and happy life.

Follow an established plan to control your diabetes and try to minimize the risk of complications and you will be on your way towards accomplishing your desires !

God gives us life and challenges. I was born with lung
problems. My mother feel caring a laundry basket and I
was born in the 1940"s 3months before her due date. The
doctor said its a miracle I survived. I have had challenges all my life. Its why I went into nursing. I lost a leg after getting an infection from a patient. Its another challenge.
Diabetes is another challenge. What doesn't kill us makes us strong. We take our strengths and share
them with others.

My family makes it worth it to me. Especially since I found out I am about to be a grandma. I want to be around to do things with my grandchild for a very long time.

That's right! and isn't it great how children can change your values, lifestyle, thinking and views on things, and it's all for the better.

I technically could have been dead back in 1982 so the diagnosis of diabetes did not scare me. I lived with a diabetic grandmother who lived into her mid-70s with type 2 and did not have to go on insulin until she developed bone cancer shortly before she passed. She controlled it with diet. Now on the other end, one of my best friends died at 56 as she did not control her sugars. She had the blood vessels of a 90 year old woman - lost her sight, lost a foot, and needed bypass surgery but would not have survived the surgery. A heart attack took this wonderful woman away from us.

I actually feel better following my diabetic meal plan, get to enjoy the foods I love and have a wonderful life ahead of me. I've switched to eating as much non-processed stuff as possible and using fresh produce when available. I will always live life to the fullest as you never know when it can be taken away. It's not that hard to do … just get out and get active!

The greatest thing that can happen to Fantasy is Reality !
Nothing is guaranteed but you must want to Live, and it starts by Loving Yourself enough to do what's right !
Leave the Past Behind .. Adopt a New Mentality .. no need to set a goal, you already have one, Survival !
The longest journey starts with a first step and you must take that first step, Love yourself enough to do it for You !

You are very right, Mays. I went through a phase of denial and than "I don't care", because in my mind there was no future. Than shortly after my niece passed away I woke up one day and was like 'what am I doing to myself and the people that I love!?' I was slowly killing myself and well, I didn't want to do that anymore. I have a family that I personally promised to be there for and friends that I hold close to my heart. That's what motivates me to take care of myself and kick this thing in the butt before it kicks me in the butt even more.

Your wakeup call, started a process that will save your life because you are willing to fight for it !

I recently got married to a warm witty, and wonderful woman, and I want to live a LOOOOONNNNNGGG and happy life with her. (LoL don't let the woman in the photo know LoL!)

I also want to see my (not yet conceived) grandbabies.

I want to get revenge on my enemies ~ as the saying goes "Living well is the BEST revenge!"

Ya it was real bad. She didnt take care of her self at all

my aunt pam also died from it. it was painful to watch her go, and it broke my heart, and my moms heart. we were a very very close knit family.

My grandmother was an alcoholic, never went to the doctor, and died - undiagnosed - in a diabetic coma. She was just a few years older than I am now.

Her shame and fear killed her. I was much younger - in my 20s and not yet diagnosed. So when my diagnosis came, you bet I paid attention.

There is so much that is wonderful and good in life - and I'm too busy to give up!

I have been confronted with many issues, diabetis only one of them, I have ALWAYS tried to do my very best at ANYTHING—just habit—-IT really HURT me to realize that I could NOT always make straight A's in LIFE, but have learned to go ahead and TRY! Now it is that cancer that is probably lurking in my side—-Time will tell, but I will CONTINUE to be as pleasant as possible, friendly to all, especially those closest to me, and maybe helpful to others!! Then I can say that I gave my BEST!! What else matters??!! Nothing, in my eyes!! But of course only with God/s help and support too!!! Amen, Pat R

my family, i want to be around to grow old with my fiancee, have children and watch them grow up and get married.

im not done living yet, there's far too much left on this earth for me to do and to see.

Thats a good start.
I love to read books and drive take long walks with my wife and if I didnt take care of it I would not be abl to do that.
I love my feet where they are, both of them.And you know I feel better too with my BS running good
