Sweats?

I need to check out the B Vitamins too. I take 1 Super B Complex a day, but maybe I need to check out Metanx. Thanks all, the things we teach other!!! S2

Doc said to track my carb intake, lessen my bread helpings and if I have to eat bread eat wheat…well duh…I've known that one since I was first diagnosed. I'm on Metformin (or whatever it's called!) and she thinks we may have to increase the dosage if cutting back on things doesn't stop the sweat thing.

Does that mean my diabetes is worse????

Here in Vegas we have "Aunt Hattie's" breads, including low carb…about 9 carbs a slice. I like the 7 grain and wheat is ok. A great way to cut carbs…check the carbs and fiber on your breads. Good luck.

Ok…thanks to all of you for your ideas, especially on the thyroid thing. I had my doctor appointment today, not for the diabetes but to get cortizone shots in my lower back (old spine injury)..anyway…I asked her about the sweats. She agreed it would not be menopause at my age. I asked if she had ever checked my thyroid (honestly I felt like I was running the office…lol) she looked through my record and ordered the test done. Nurse came in and drew my blood so we shall see eh?

For me, it happened when my blood surgar level dropped rapidly. So when this happens to me at work, I'm very careful until it passes. It doesn't last long at all.
I know all about hot flashes and this is definitley NOT a hot flash. I'm past menopause so I believe it is definitely due to my blood glucose level dropping.

I have the night sweats, bad enough to wake me up. I've checked my glucose and found it to be high. I also have hypothyroidism. When my glucose levels dropped in the past, I would feel very weak and shaky.

You guys are the best! Thank you all for your comments and empathy. It's really good to know one is not alone with these scary symptoms. I do take many vitamins daily as my doctor stated Vitamins B12 especially will fight off fatigue. I still get these sweats so perhaps I will have my thyroid checked next doc. visit! Thanks to you all!

I m with you Londaon, cause that s me all the way with my thyroid. I get the swets too more now than before I found out Im a diabetic. It comes and quick as it goes away.

I found out that when I feel very hot and begin to perspire that my blood glucose level is coming down to rapidly!
Has anyone else noticed this too?

Well, I am just the opposite. I start getting hot, and perspiring when my blood sugar starts to get high. When it bottoms out, I just get very shaky, and feel really badly. I have passed out a couple of times with no warnings at all. I'm just different I guess.

I have hypothyroidism and that can mess with how you feel. You are more sensitive to cold than most, brittle hair, some hair loss, weight gain, tiredness, and the list can go on and on. I have this alot and the doc said it was because of my thyroid. Good Luck!

When it happens to me it usually means my blood sugar is too low or I'm about to faint. So I do an accuchek and if it's ok, I lie down and turn a fan on me. Because I fainted a few months ago while in a chair and wrecked my glasses when I fell to the floor. And I am post-menopausal, too.

Boy, can I identify with that!! I am either hot or cold. I think our diet does play a big roll in it. I also think that vitamans help,especially the "B" vitamins. My doctor prescribed a Vitamin B complex for me, it is call Metanx; I can tell a big difference in how I feel when taking them.

I'm post-menopausal and have continued to suffer the sweats, especially at night. I found taking B complex vitamins daily keep them at bay. Ran out of the B a couple weeks ago - the sweats were back three days later! I'm convinced…

Am also having the sweats.Dont know what causes them but sure is annoying.

Even though I have been through the menopause route too, I still get the sweats you are talking about sometimes and am usually too hot or too cold. In talking to other women, they also experience the same thing - diabetic or not. I think we have to live with it and dress in layers to help outselves.
