Adorable, it is almost a month…how is your brother? I see ads for CVS and quick medical clinics w/ a PA. That might be a good place for him…and also check the left nav on this site. Thought I saw something on the strips there.

I agree with the others…he does not need to wait 3 weeks to see a doctor, especially if his liver is involved.

Calling the maker of the meter is a good place to start, they really are generous. Roche has sent me strips before, and meters, soft click pens, diaries, and even lancets for the test pen (I am not on insulin) for my Accu-Chek Compact Plus. Good luck. S2

Brother needs to see doc ASAP. As far as free strips…even at needy meds I did not find free. Companies are very generous with giving out free meters but nothing in strips. I have no insurance and make just a hair too much for medicaid. In my rural area Walmart is the only place to turn too. Ditch the one Touch meter because strip are very costly. Invest $8-10.00 in Walmart Relion meter. $40.00 for 100 strips. First thing on his agenda needs to be doc visit because of yellow eyes.

Ususally yellow eyes are a sign of something going on with the liver (jaundice). I believe he could talk to social security about going on Medicaid for his meds.

I had to google that one! There are 68 possible causes of yellow eyes, but diabetes is not one of them. However, I see that anemia can contribute. If he's had it for awhile and his sugars run high, he could be developing a lot of mineral and vitamin deficiencies as they get flushed out by the urine, along with the sugar. I guess you'd have to review the list and see if anything else looks likely. And after that I'd take him to an ER so he can get looked at by a doctor without the charge.

Usually yellow eyes can have something to do with the liver—hepatitis, gallstones blocking the flow of bile, or liver damage from medications..He needs medical care for him to get the care he needs.

I would try the makers of his strips. There is usually an 800 number associated with the company, for customer service. I would start there. What can happen—they say no? He will be no worse off than now!
