Hi Kira, You didn't let it get out of control, sometimes we don't have any control over the things that happen to our body's. But I do know it's only one of you and you do have to take better care of yourself starting now. Cause now you have a little angel that depends on you and loves you unconditionally. Pick yourself up and hold your head up and tackle this head on just like the rest of your friends here on diabetic connect. We are all here for one reason because we all have some type of diabetes that has effected our life's one way or another. We all hold hands here and take care of each other, you never know when you might need just to vent or have a good discussion about just everyday life changes. I too have type 2, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn't do anything wrong and I still got it, so it just happens. But now we have to try and maintain it best we can with diet and exercise and things will work out just fine. So remember your never alone you've got your friends here. |

I was admitted for a rash that would not go away. Had the hives so bad as big as baseballs all over my body. I didn't think anything of it and that's when I found out I was diabetic. I think diabetes and rashes, hives, have a connection. |

Last edited 13 days ago Oh honey, you are preaching to the quire here. I was pregnant at 16 then again at 17 and got T2 at 18. I weighed 115 lbs. and was beyond active. I did not have insurance at the time so I did not get proper care so I let it drag a few years and got my official diagnosis a few years later. Oh and hives I have those right now they are called peridermetitis. I scratch the blood out of my stomach. Trust me it is not your fault it is nothing you did except give life. There is however a lot of misconceptions about T2 that you will have to deal with just like I do. Gets on my nerves so bad. And I let people know it too. LOL but I do it in a way to educate them. Everybody's T2 is not the same. By the way my pancreas is so crapped out I only make a micro of insulin of my own but still has to be considered T2 and I am on a pump. |

Thank you everyone. Nice getting to know you all =] Thank you also, for giving my a little information and telling me a bit about your stories. I am glad to know I am not alone in this. I am making my first doctors appointments on monday and just going from there. I also am making the best effort I can to stop smoking since I heard that smoking while having Type 2 is a big no no apparently. Sooo yea I kinda feel like I have to make a LOT of big changes in a little bit of time.

Hello. My name is Kira. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my little boy. It's been 7 months since I gave birth. I had to take a trip to the E.R. two days ago for a rash only to find out my gestational diabetes never left and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I am only 21 years old and for the past couple days all I can think is "How did I let this happen? How did I let my self get so out of control?"
Sooo here I am. Hopefully I will be able to chat with other people in the same situation. No one in my family has diabetes nor do they really understand it... so I feel kind of alone.
