I recently was diagnosed w/ diabetes but I'm not quit sure how long it went undetected. My question is when going into stores or walking through the mall, etc does anyone get hot and start to feel shaky and confused? This happens to me on long journeys through the store.

Yes, it has happened to me. I usually make sure I layer when I go there so I can take layers off. But what you might be experiencing are lows and you need to have a meter to check and if you are low you need to treat it. There are so many fast food places that it is no problem. But a pretzel or something like that will help. Good luck and keep asking questions. We are here to help you.

When that happens to me, yes my sugar is dropping. Was in Wally World last Saturday checking out when it hit me. Sweats, shaking, blurred vision....quickly grabbed a Dr Pepper to get me out the door. Was at 42 by the time I got to the truck and checked my bs. Usually it's my own stupidity...not eating when I should. Had worked all day and just wanted to get a few things picked up and head home. I know better some times, and yet I still do it. I also keep the glucose tabs in my purse for these types of situations too.

Do you take any of these medications? Insulin, glipizide (glucotrol), glyburide (diabeta), glimepiride (amaryl), starlix, prandin, januvia or byetta.

No... my Dr. wants to see if I can control it with my diet first. I don't go back for for a check up for 4 months. That seems like a long time to me.

It could be several things. These are classic signs of low bs. You need to plan your trips to the mall, by eating properly, checking your levels before entering mall, and then making sure you carry your meter wherever you go. Then stash some snacks in your purse for those insyances when it drops. Juice cans or boxes that don't need refrigeration are good. If you can't narrow it down, discuss with your dr. Good luck.
