I was just thinking about that Edie, your right we have come upon the holiday season very quick this year. Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite ones. But Im kinda down in the dumps cause I cant eat all those good sweets and all. But I have picked out a few of the good receipts on this site, that I cant wait to try. I don't have my recent A1C results not till end of month, I will post them. Enjoy everyone!!
Edie replied November 6, 2009 6:22 PM I am sure there are recipes out there that we can have over the Holiday Season and not cost us to much in our numbers fight. Have a very merry Holiday Season.
MeiMei replied November 9, 2009 4:23 PM Try making all of your desserts with Splenda instead of sugar. You can get the equal amounts on the package, that way you can afford (blood sugar wise) to eat some of them, in moderation.
Edie replied 5 days ago Splenda is cup for cup in place of reg. sugar. I use it all of the time myself. |

My A1c in late August was 6.8, I won't get another till early Jan. But since I started testing in September, I have stayed between 80-125 except for twice when it was 163 (due to eating something I shouldn't have). I have lost 20 lbs. Started at 231.5 and am now 211. I am trying not to dread the holidays, I am trying to keep in mind that I just need to make good choices and keep excercising. Here's hoping we all have better A1c's the next test! Suzy
Edie replied November 6, 2009 6:24 PM Your numbers, weight and A1C are all great. Keep up the good work and I hope you get to the weight you want to be soon. |

I got a call from the Drs. office today and mine went down from 8.5 last time to 7.5 this time. I am also down from 262 last time to 258 yesterday. My chol. is now at normal for both good and bad they said also my BP was 130/79 this time. So that means I had a good Appointment yesterday down 4 pounds in the last 3 months. Every thing is heading in the right direction they said. I will post my numbers later for this week tomorrow or Sunday as they are from Monday to Sunday in the book. I got the Double Wedding Ring Quilt done this morning at 4:20 and will post it shortly here for all to see. When I get caught back up with my house work then I will start on another quilting project.

Last edited 14 days ago hi i am new to this site and though i would give a few comments and hopefully get some good input back .i have been a diebetic fo 18 yrs now. at first my diebetes was controlled by drugs and rabbit food .then i realized that wasnt the way, so then i got active and lost about 100 lbs. and went totally off all meds for about 10 yrs .but about 5 yrs ago i had a blood clot in my leg which blindsided me, and put me on bed rest for about10 mts. then a heart attack now my weight has gone back up . diebetes drugs dont work very well. so i inject insulin in large amounts.i also work my butt off at the swimming pool 4-5 days a week . still my a1c is like 8+. i cant seem to loose the weight either. and i know is the biggest factor too. my doc says that my diebetes has become brittle, and i am highly insulin resistant so were do i go from here. i try to eat right. but like example i eat a salad ,with just a little dressing and 1 hour later bs goes up to like 300 and takes hours and insulin to recover. got any bright ideas , also what ever i do i have to do keeps it stable. i have to be concerned about being on coumadin too, for the blood clotts so green leafy veggies have to be consistant is there any longtime dibetics out there that can give me there advise. oh yea also now a little over a year ago my insurance company dropped me and no one will insure me that i could possibly afford so until next year when i become elidigable for medicare medical cost are a problem too perscription drugs and testing supplies
Edie replied November 8, 2009 2:26 AM richho check under Medications there is a Discussion on Help with Medications. There are alot of sites that can help you to get your Meds. I hope that helps you some.

Sorry I am late again. This month I thought we could all post our A1C's and see where we go from there. I have a Dr. Apt in just a couple of days and then will learn where my A1C is when the results come in. I am also going to post my weight each week again. You will find it on the Sat. Posts. I hope this Discussion finds all in good Spirits. This month is the Beginning of the Holiday Season so try to stay on top of our Diabetes and still enjoy some of the treats of the Season.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
