I still don't believe I am a diabetic. I feel perfectly fine. Am I suppose to feel lousy????? I was recently diagnosed with type 2
diabeties. I prick my finger once sometimes twice a day. The numbers are always good like 110 3 - 4 hours AFTER I eat and 150 - 170 immediately after I eat. Is this normal? Any help would be appreciated. By the way, I am not on any medication. My doctor wants to see if I can control this with diet and exercise first.

I was able to control mine with diet and exercise for 10 years. Learn as much as you can. during your yearly physicals make sure they run HBA1C.

I am trying to control mine with diet and exercise. I am not on meds for it. I feel great. The more weight I lose, the better I feel. The exercising is also helping me feel better. I hope that by doing this, I will stay off meds for a long long time. As someone else stated, don't stay in denial for too long. You need to take it seriously and take good care of yourself. I always like what Harlen says…I like to see and want to keep my feet where they are…so take care of business now! Good luck!

IF you can control it with diet and exercise you are doing good but in reality it more than likely want last. I was like that and yes you feel fine until it get's worse. I went from diet and exercise to thinking they aren't anything wrong with me and ate everything I wanted, NOW SINCE MARCH OF 2009, I AM ON INSULIN, PILLS, and have already been hospitalized due to heart issues and scheduled for a heart catheterization on Monday 11-2-09. So yes, you feel fine now but if you don't keep on the diet and exercise for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!! You will find yourself like the rest of us. Health issues that can't be fixed or just treating them for as long as you live. I wished I knew about this website and DIABETES before it is almost to late. I am sticking strictly to my diabetic diet and exercising when my heart is messing up. You don't know what it feels like to have a "pretend" heart attack or something similar that mimics a heart attack. I don't know which one mine is yet. But let me tell you it will SCARE YOU TO DEATH AND MAKE YOU WISH YOU HAD DONE WHAT THE DOCTOR TOLD YOU TO DO IN THE BEGINNING. DON'T GIVE UP JUST BECAUSE YOU "FEEL FINE". BECAUSE YOUR REALLY NOT!!! TAKE CARE AND GOOD LUCK AND KEEP IN TOUCH .

Don't stay in denial so long you have complications! That added to some of mine! You can feel perfectly fine with elevated BS, that's why so many people are surprised with their diagnosis, I know I was!

That is me, that's exactly what my doctor told me to do diet and exercise, and that's what I do daily. Its hard but I do it cause I don't want it to go any further. Dont get too worried just make sure your testing the correct way. Two hours after you eat dinner, and fasting first thing in the morning before you eat anything. Good luck.

I agree. Exercise, exercise, exercise, and watch what you eat. Hopefully you can stay off meds for a long time. It is not unusual to be in denial when first diagnosed.
